I've just picked one up from SC, still stickered and I'm very happy with my decision.

It's a great watch, but it's not that great! The market for these will soften I have no doubt. It is currently being driven by the fear of loss.

I know the owner. I reckon he'd let it go for 10k to an established member......

Can you share what offer you got? And more importantly - would you put it up on SC here??

    You have a PM.

I can't put it on SC due to post count and will keep it at least until SD43 arrives.

Above is what Watchfinder offered me for mine back in April. I never followed it up as it was more out of interest and nearly a month later it may have changed. All subject to them seeing it of course.

That price is no better than I got for my 4000 last year. Given that they are advertising one at £9250 you can draw your own conclusions.

WF offered me £7000-7200 for mine last week, and it's a 2014 model. I might have to cash it in soon to buy some new clothes...

Well they must be desperate for them, I just had a follow up email from them asking if I was still looking to sell, they offered £7750 for a bnib SD4K, I also asked about SD43 and they said £10-10.5k, that's a nice little mark up for them!

For as much I like mine I'm getting tempted at that trade in price point because I could have two very watches instead of one. Mines not BNIB mind, I wouldn't expect it to be far off that price though.

Feel the same with mine, there does come that cut off point where rather than enjoying the watch, i start getting worried about the value on my wrist.

Depends on how and where you wear it, mine's my daily beater / work watch, now suddenly it's a huge chunk of change on the wrist, so the enjoyment is diminishing.

Anyone would think the sd4000 used to be cheap. It has always been a valuable watch, and current prices are no more than 15% higher from what I can judge. The hype gets a touch out of hand. Just let things settle and we will see.
The obsession with price is not the best part of the hobby!

Not often that I agree with you but I do in this instance.
It is not as if it has doubled in value.
If you wore it when it was 15% cheaper, you can still wear it now.

I understand the sentiment, however I'm tempted to get rid of my SD4K and get a 16600 no box and papers and wear the thing until I'm taken out of it!

The problem I have is that it's only covered on my house insurance. I need to ring them because that Rrp replacement so I currently don't know were I stand as it's not available new anymore.
It hasn't gone up 15% either. I paid less than £6k new and was offered less than £5k trade in when it was 6 months old. People are now being offered over £7k trade price. That's more than a 40% increase in 18 months.
Mine is/was also a daily wearer including work. Rightly or wrongly I'm more conscious of wearing than I was 6 months ago.

    It really isn't.

I've been offered £7250 - my reason for requesting this quote was idle curiosity. I paid £6040 for mine from Iconic - minus 3.5k ish from a trade-in.

I won't be selling - the SD4000 is pretty much perfect. Wish I'd bought two!

I am currently abroad on holiday, I've spotted in a local AD window a new SDC but there is no price., I didn't want to enquire without at least knowing what I should be paying in sterling, can someone please tell me the list price of the 4K before it was discontinued?

    Thanks
    Dave

I did! Actually I traded my BLNR for a second one as I just didn't get on with it. I wear my SDc more than anything else. When I first got one they were in every AD window. I still loved mine but it was the only available SS sports anywhere.

......Suddenly, they are in demand. Rolex controlling it's market and defining its market. What it does best. I don't think for a second that any Rolex is worth the sum of its parts but every single one is worth the sum of the Rolex effort to make it worth more than it's parts.

If that's right on the Seadweller 50th the prices have fallen back since the beginning of the month when they were apparently paying £11000 to buy in one.

It has to be based on availability and demand, if every greedy little piggy sells their watch in order to make a big fat profit, eventually Watchfinder will have too much stock and will accordingly will buy in for less.

Of course, market force of supply and demand (and it's ebb and flow) always dictate the market.

Personally, if it works out at less than £7k and it's in the EU, I'd be buying it.

8 watches showing UK Location on Chrono24. Ranges from £8,500 to £11,500

Prior to Basel, they started at £6k

Fair to say that their values are up!

Why's the demand up. They've not changed in any way. People suddenly wanting what they can't get so prices rise.

From my understanding it was considered a seriously flawed watch until discontinued.

If by seriously flawed, you mean perfectly balanced, sized and proportioned, then Yes.
