Sales corner here is pretty good. Don't speed post to gain access because the locals can be a bit grouchy. Best wishes Dave
hi,
I'm new here but seems like a friendly place :-)
Can somebody give me info for the best places to buy preowned Omega, Rolex, Tudor etc.
I know of watchfinder and a few others but they want more for a 2 year old rolex sub than I can buy one brand new list!
Thanks in advance

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Chrono24 is the place to go.
Chrono24 is a pretty good site, especially to benchmark models/countries.
Iconic is also a good site for new models
Chrono24 to get an idea of market value. Ebay is fine too as long as you follow the age old adage of buying the seller before the watch. Under 100% feedback can be fine sometimes but always check the comments under any neg feedback

While it can be a useful indicator, I treat Chrono24 as representing something ABOVE prevailing market prices.
Commonly, the watches listed on Chrono24 are still on there, unsold, for one very simple reason!

I'd start with SC; nothing is foolproof, but the people on there are fellow hobbyists and tend to take care of their watches....in my limited experience. There is also the bonus of meeting fellow enthusiasts if you buy face to face. Prices will be more realistic.
In the past I've found Fitzrovia Watches to be pretty good. They never have more than 10-20 watches for sale but generally some interesting pieces and can be quite well priced. Bought a ceramic sub from them in 2012 and it was really well priced at the time.
Watchrecon will link to multiple places where watches are sold outside of Chrono24 and commercial companies.
Watches.co.uk for Preowned
Iconic watches for discounted new (although discounts on Rolex are not on the table any more given the exchange rate
Chrono24 is not a seller - it is more of an eBay type place with less protection
Sales Corner here. It's all fellow enthusiasts (hopefully), who also have a stake in making this work. I've bought a few watches and a dial, all quick pleasant transactions. Only downside is you have to be very fast on the draw. Good luck.
I'll say sales corner here too, prices are very good, but because of that certain models go in the blink of an eye, so if you want a popular model you have to very fast! Other places people have mentioned like watches.co.uk are decent too, also Chronext seems an alternative to iconic for gray stock.
Sales corner is good here, but the OP won't have enough posts to view. I have bought watches off of Hackett Watches, Dom is a good guy http://www.hackettwatches.com.
I have no experience of buying off of Mark Worthington, but they seem to have a lot of stock and have always been good when I have made enquireies - http://www.markworthingtonjewellers.co.uk/
Agreed and I guess sellers there also inflate to cover fees- another I've used is catawiki.com - they always have hundreds for sale. Fees are scary though but you do have a period of grace to check the watch out etc before your money is released to the seller

Same view on Mark Worthington I've found them pleasant to talk to when enquiring but just a little over priced on some things. They did have some movement on price I recall when discussing a 16570 polar a while ago. Some nice stock so website is worth a browse.
You have way more experience than me in the watch market but out of interest the reason being Price or condition?
Over the last 6 months I have searched sd's and exp2s (1980s & 90s) and found that the prices were better (mostly in Europe) than what I could find on the uk websites.
There also appears to be a good selection of watch references that are not readily available in the uk. For example the 16660. I can only find one or two on the uk sites but quite a few in Europe on chrono24. By getting a feel for the prices, I hope I can be quick to make a decision if a local watch comes up for sale.
Most searches start with Chrono 24 in my view, but you need to be careful because as others have said it is a marketplace not a shop. Blowers while not the cheapest are good in my view and you will get a good quality watch that you can trust.
Best place from what I have seen is sales corner. Iconic watches seems decent also and airports. If you are after Rolex sports, sales corner for best prices or simply brand new from AD if you can wait, as you said why buy second hand from big dealers if they only give u a small discount to list.

Sales Corner here is the best, especially if you aren't looking for a watch.
I have bought from Iconic, Chronext and also Watch Lounge in Germany. All have been excellent.

Watchfinder doesn't get much love, but they do have specials and I've picked up a Rolex 5513 and an Exp2 at a price that I've been happy with.

Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango .
You could also check Watchrecon.com it often links to other watch forum sales lists.
Am I being too obvious to add miltonaires.com to the list?

How do I get access to sales corner?

Personally I would not have the confidence to buy from eBay. If you have limited experience I'd suggest taking an active part in discussions here and waiting until you have access to Sales Corner. Engaging with people on Watch Talk will bring you some credibility as a member, access to Sales Corner will take you to a place where watches can be bought at realistic prices from people who are trustworthy with feedback in Heroes and Villains. If you post rubbish to boost your word count I guess you've already worked out that there are members here who will give you a very hard time.
As Haywood has said, Chrono24 is a marketplace and some prices for pre-owned watches on there are distinctly optimistic. I've only bought one used watch on there - from a dealer in Austria - and the watch was not entirely as described.

Gumtree can be quite good - but only if you're willing to meet in person. Also bear in mind that fakes are sold there, so go in making sure you know plenty about the watch.

+1 :)
Thanks everyone :-)
Yes I'm surprised to hear a vote of no confidence in Blowers, to be honest. Admittedly I've never bought from them but I did sell them a watch and they seemed very straight to me...

I've found watchfinder pretty good, plus they seem open to price negotiation, especially if you're buying a couple of watches together!!
