Excellent choice.
An itch I always wanted to scratch. Due to arrive Friday.
Excellent choice.

Very nice. My recent bike purchase was prompted by a sales post for an R90 BM. These classics are just that.
Lovely, have fun!
I thought this thread was about Barbara Windsor for a minute :-)
Nice choice, always had a hankering for a Le Mans.
Nice one always liked Guzzi's. The Griso is tempting.
The "Mk III" is the best version: Larger valves (and exhaust IIRC) and standard points ignition rather than the stupid electronic one on the MK II. Of course, the Dyna ignition set is a good addition but not necessary.
I owned one for many, many years. At various points, I relocated the pegs and installed Monza foot controls, installed the taller Monza primary reduction gears, got the flywheel lightened, installed K&N air filters, and even had a 2-into-1 exhaust made. Unfortunately, the cardan shaft joint died and ruined the transmission rear cover. Do be careful with that part. Someone somewhere found a way to make a steel sleeve to insert into the transmission output tunnel. It might prevent damage as I experienced, might make it worse.
One thing I learned: The V50-III is probably best left standard. I tried to make it something it could never be. It handles very nicely and runs well enough as it came from the factory.
Enjoy your Guzzi!
What a wonderful looking machine there. Enjoy.
Lovely!
I once owned a MG Le Mans mk2 but only because I had some cash at the time and a friend didn't. He got it running and flogged it, we made £300 each or something. There you go:

Well it actually arrived yesterday, so I've had a couple of days to ride it. By God it's agricultural compared to anything I've ridden before including a CX-500 of similar vintage. But it handles beautifully for such an old bike and sounds glorious. Not just a great variety of exhaust sounds, but also a symphony of intake and mechanical noises to explore. And when you arrive at your destination you're surrounded by a wonderful fragrance of oil and petrol.
Great to hear, always fancied a Guzzi, occasionally find myself browsing the Le Mans ads on eBay.
Enjoy!
I remember an owner of a V50 saying you need to really match engine speeds to gear changes. This is important on downshifts as too zealous with the gearbox will cause the rear wheel to lock up.
Looks a beut, enjoy the nice riding days of August.
Beautifull!! Always loved the sound of those things

Reminds me of my old BMW twin, bought after having a Suzy bandit. What a contrast! A bit like my watch collection - a bit of everything as one does not suit all occasions. When people say that you can't ride/wear all of them at once, I have to explain that different days mean different ways!

That's lovely. A friend had one when we were at Uni... very cool.
Took it out again today. The gear change definitely rewards a bit of care and patience. The front brake is much improved after giving it a bit of a gentle workout. I also gave the bike a clean and then a going over with ACF50 to protect it for the winter and make the rusty bits less obvious!
