The big question is - will some spiv try and resell it in SC and profiteer from it. Some buggers have no morals.

Imagine the popcorn quantity that would be required if he opened the back to find a Ronda inside.....

    No idea if that's true.

Whoever bought it, it was a stunningly generous thing for the owner to donate it to charity.

Yeah but its not a watch at this point its a commodity and the mere mundane artifacts of life are not the same thing.

The mona lisa would be just an average painting of some unknown lady if leonardo da vinci was not the painter.

Some mainstream swiss watchmaker would not be able to demand such a price if it had no attachment to a similarly impressive cultural icon.

Its not a watch they bought. It could have been a car or a baseball cap.

You think when they eventually bring back the flag from the moon from Apollo 11 it won’t be billions?

Its not a watch its an icon. For good or bad, this is what human beings do. It will akways be the same ; until culturally it has no worth and is just a watch again.

Be calm its humanity in action

Having spoken to Phillips this week I was informed that even they weren't expecting such a strong result, their prediction was in the £7-8m.

The word on the street is that it was a Middle East buyer who immediately flipped it for a 4m profit.
