Excellent news
I may have found a suitable movement for this one at last! Pictures soon.

That is good news!
Pity there is already a PRS 14 and 18, cos it could have been called the PRS 14/18
Who will be the first to start a thread entitled "TRENCH FEVER", I wonder? :D
Dial side
Back side
I don't know anything more about it yet, it was one of those "what do you think of this?" packages which arrived with no explanatory notes.

Wow. Very Germanic. Well made too, with screwed chattons ... no corners cut here. Would they come to you ready-prepared or will they need setting up?
Make sure there are spares ... and grab them before Panerai does.

Every watch a story.
I'll have a gold filled "Richmond Spencer" engraved on the movement and they will be set-up to perform as well as they're capable of performing. I think it's a beautiful looking movement but don't let that stop anyone slagging it off. :twisted:Originally Posted by abraxas

Excuse my ignorance, but what movement is it ?

Looks the business and very elegant too. :)
This should come up a real great. I love the blued screws and the chatons, and the swan-neck regulator. Beautiful.
Look forward to seeing more.
Best wishes,
AP:)
That it really good looking movement :love4: Reminds me of Dornblulth...
I think Tero nailed it!
Looks da bomb Eddie :D
Beautifully but not over beautifully finished.
Maybe a bit too much steel for a display back but bit too good, and expensive, to be shut away.
I'll take 005, please, and open the floodgates.
Interesting arrangement of the wheel train. It looks like the center wheel stone isn't visible from the movement side. No recesses for the screws on the balance bridge, or the pallet bridge. (I think that that is very old fashioned? But the movement is pretty modern. No screw for the stem, and a moveable stud carrier.)
The dial side is unusual as well. There is some sort of plate at the subseconds. And it looks like the subseconds is being driven by the escape wheel, which would be odd, indeed. So, is it indirect subseconds? (I would love to see what's under that plate.)
Best wishes,
Bob
Eddie, I remember you said your next watches would not be limited editions. I wonder if that would be the case with this watch. I mean, such movements must be very hard to find...If that is the case, and sorry to say this, I AM IN (and I do not care about any number). Another year of excitement ahead of us....
nice movement... typical german 3/4 plate... a little bit more on finishing will be perfect !
i'll not think twice to book 1 as well.....
Yes, but tell me, really, what is it?Originally Posted by swanbourne

Another one to look forward to Eddie.

That is one wonderful looking movement Eddie!
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Lovely looking movement :D
Good news Eddie,
It seems to be far nicer than the movements you mentioned a year ago (that Fricker could get a hold of)
The movement looks beautiful and though a bit to elaborate for a workhorse trenchwatch I would mind looking at it to a display back
and a trench watch is one I have been waiting for........ and I almost thought it ended up on the backburner....
I've been saving up for this one, the CAF and the SB-3.... [and I'm not mentioning the 'Paul Newman' ] luckily the gestation period of these gave me time enough to make my bankmanager happy and get some interest on the savings too
Although some forummmers had reservations the floodgates opened a year ago....... :roll:Originally Posted by Seamaster73

we're having some nice things to look forward to ( and I'm still in for my favourite #25)

True about the reservations, though Eddie said he wasn't taking any until he had the movement...which is now? I'm on that early list too, but just for insurance, I'll still take #18 :D

As a watch n00b I'd like to know what a trench watch is before I decide if I like it! Anyone any pics? Whilst that movement above looks great the case has to look great too... ;)Originally Posted by swanbourne

The image from the original thread showing the trenchy has gorn missing! Anyone got it?
 Well, more than 1000 views of the thread indicates something..... :bounce: :drunken:Originally Posted by swanbourne

Wow. What movement is it?
I'm in for the long haul. This will be something unique in my collection based just on the movement. The case and dial will be like frosting and whipped cream on the cake.
If there are doubts about proceeding with the project, I'd be willing to place a non-refundable deposit of £100 or so to assure a reasonable Return on Investment for Eddie (yes, I was an accountant in a former life). This has been discussed before so don't flame me for bringing it up again. Prices for movements and most watch components are getting to the point of insanity which makes it harder to decide to go ahead with a project like this.
I'd guess there is more pride and satisfaction for Eddie than £ profit on some recent models. I expect it would be difficult to even fully tabulate the hours spent on each project, let alone doing an actual profit analysis.
I like the idea as originally defined and pictured, I especially like the movement and look forward to another Timefactors project with many fathers.

Thanks John :) Just as I thought, its lovely. I want one!
I'm in, as I indicated previously Eddie. By the number of hours I've spent in bunkers recently, I should think a trench watch would be very appropriate wear :|

Its probably too late but have you considered gold Eddie?
Don't know why but it suddenly makes this project hugely exciting to me.
I did consider silver but not gold. It's not a good time to be buying gold.

Silver would be nice, for me the right blend between luxury and understatement....Originally Posted by swanbourne

Only kidding of course Eddie...

Is this going to be the Jacobs homage that Eddie predicted? :D
Thinking about this again. I was wondering if we could have a engined turned dial/guilloche as a potential alternative to the cold enamel dial if quality of the enamel is not guaranteed. I love my new guilloche dial watch and I think it could fit the style of the trench watch as well.Originally Posted by abraxas

Well, maybe it does not make sense, but at least I have bumped the trench
Sorry to disagree José,Originally Posted by angeche
I love guilloche dials but then it wouldn't be a trench watch anymore, so something very close to the PRS19-2 pic is what it should be.....
(So Eddie, any sketches on napkins for this one? I know... rethorical question.... )
I have a full technical drawing for this one somewhere.Originally Posted by Jeroen
