    Favourite Xmas Savoury Snack?

Apologies to anyone back at work already but my personal booze and snack-fest is set to continue for a few more days yet.

This year I’ve been lamenting once more the demise of Stickletti and the dearth of trays of Party Mix in the local shops. Planters dry roasted peanuts seem to be thin on the ground too, with most shops having the KP variety only.

This got me thinking as to whether there is a savoury snack I’m missing out on. Has anyone got any recommendations or personal favourites? I’m thinking of getting some Twiglets later if nothing better turns up...

The obligatory cold turkey sandwich, but with a couple of proper strong pickled onions on the side - preferably ones bought LAST Christmas and forgotten about at the back of the fridge, none of that silverskin rubbish. Then on the side a pile of Roast Beef Monster Munch or some of the red Doritos (Chilli Heatwave)

Not for amateurs, it takes training that.

Left over Turkey or ham with a pickled peach and proper piccalilli
Maybe some cold thin sliced stuffing
    Slurp

A twiglet is for life, not just for Christmas

[I also eat them when watching F1 - well, I have to have something to amuse me!]

Truffle infused Brie with some decent crackers and a glass of good port, yum! No turkey this year, we had duck in cherry sauce and did not miss the turkey one bit!

This year the task of making Christmas Eve dinner fell on me. I made home-made chicken liver pate, home-made salt beef, fresh new potato salad made with a home-made caper remoulade, home-made pickled onions (sweet and hot), home made piccalilli, and home-made pickled beetroot. That’s what I call a Christmas snack.

Some interesting suggestions there - thank you!

In the end I went to Waitrose looking for some stuffed vine leaves (they’d sold out) but left with x4 reduced tubs (54p each) of mini Twiglets that should keep me thirsty for the next few days :)

Definitely the cheese footballs. No once else apart from my brother in law liked them either lol. The cheese is the TUC sandwich biscuit stuff from our youth!

Make some bread with Guinness instead of water, toast it, and smear Patum Peperium on a la Marmite.

Twiglets .... you can’t have a good xmassy spicey fart without consuming at least half a tub.

The footballs are good too but nothing compared to the hideous delight if M&S cheese straws which are almost the same thing but with an even cheesier cheese plasticene filling.

Olives , biltong and cornichons are a bit more civilised but should be approached with caution due to the explosive combination in the belly. Do not consume near an open fire and remove all pets from the room a good galf hour before commencing grazing
