    Retro Ford Escort

For those into the old Escorts then this will be worth following. There are some tasty motors in their workshop as well, Opel Manta 400, Lancia Stratos (rep?), Chevette HSR.

I've always wanted a mk1 Mexico but that's never going to happen.

Started off life as a 1972 1300lx Daytona yellow it now has a 2.1 all steel n/a cosworth engine running on throttle bodies, straight cut gearbox, quaife LSD the list goes on! From the outside it still looks like a lowered clean mk1 escort running on 13" rs wheels. Would post pictures but can't find anything to replace photobucket that will work on my old iPad mini

    That sounds fantastic !!

Have you got the app for the forum from the App Store ? You don't need Photobucket or anything then, just upload directly

@ldc0001 - have you figured out how to post pics then?
Just kidding and great to see some restorations complete and in process. As a kid my neighbour's son (early twenties) had a couple of RS2000s that he didn't appreciate us playing football near in the street. I understood why as I got a little older. Happy days.

Lovely rs1600i, shame it’s not driven more though. It’s just a big ornament if you don’t drive it.

I have owned two Cossies, an RSturbo escort, XR3i cab with RS turbo conversion and a mk2 RS2000 and loved showing them but enjoyed driving the pants off ‘em all even more!!drag racing, track days and other shenanigans.

    Each to their own!

I agree the ford rs guys are the worst of the lot for that too. Mirrors under cars they never drive n all that nonsense... I m lucky the circle I move in we have nice clean cars but not concours but we also drive the hell out of them and most race them too.

Magnus walker style 'get out and drive'

A big ornament that increases in value which isn't a bad thing.

Thanks yes theres not many real body shops left that have the skill level to restore and paint cars well. Most are just insurance repair centres

Having owned many Old Fords over the years - I'd forgotten just how simple and clear those engine bays are!

Jobs were so much easier years ago and you didn't need all the new fangled ECU, Plug in, widget things that you need now.

Most jobs within reason are now beyond the scope of an average DIY'er due to lack off technical equipment.

I used to love tinkering with older cars....

I spend my days looking at watches on here that would take me years to pay up, now a thread on mk1 escorts too... where does this online punishment end?? Some beautiful looking cars, worst bit is I could have probably picked up a 2dr as a 17 yr old in the early 90’s, looking at prices that boat has most definitely sailed. much as it pains me please keep the photos coming.
