    Which 'solar' diver?

My current 'beater' is a Citizen Eco-drive Promaster 300m diver (BN0000-04H)

    Photo 'borrowed' from Google

I find it a bit awkward to read at times for a few reasons...

There a too many reflective surfaces - the indices and hands have shiny edges and the second hand is shiny too.
The AR doesn't appear to do much.
The dial may be too small and a bit cluttered.
I don't like the design of the hands.
    Date difficult to read.

When compared to my Fortis Cosmonaut, the Fortis is so much more legible and doesn't have the above problems.

So, I'm looking for is something similar to the Citizen: diver, solar quartz or similar, good WR, robust, lightweight, not too big overall (6.5" wrist) and inexpensive (say sub £300?) but that's much easier to read and addresses the issues mentioned above.

I'd thought about the Seiko SBDJ013 and would welcome thoughts on that, plus any other suggestions please.

    Many thanks.

How about the Seiko SNE107? Like the sbdj but cheaper. Discontinued but there must be as few about still.

Thanks, interesting, but, having just had a look, I'm not keen on the bezel design.

    Cheers

How about this? Got mine for £140 brand new and I still think they can be had for around £200. If you don't like the Pepsi they do other colours

What about the citizen orca? It's a deadly watch and there's one for sale on the corner.

Thanks, but don't like chrono on a dive watch.

    Cheers

Looks a bit too big for my requirements I think?

Would that be any better than what I have?...indices/hands look to have shiny edges, just like my existing one?

    Cheers

Very good call, love those. I’m still hoping the solar tunas are for sale soon.

I've recently acquired one. Whilst the edges of the indices and hands are shiny, I haven't noticed any legibility issues yet. Maybe the orange minute hand helps? I'd say it was pretty much uber-legible, myself. Perhaps if we ever get another sunny day, then it might be different?!

I have one arriving tomorrow, so can post my initial impressions.

In comparison to my Fortis, I find my Citizen very reflective, even under house-lights. So it's the AR as well as the reflective surfaces. I'd be interested in any further impressions.

Citizen BN0100-51E or BN0190-82E would also be a nice option

There are a number of decent solar dive watches to choose from. Here are some of the ones I have been happy with:
