    SMPc strap thoughts

Just acquired a new blue SMPc and am not fussed on the bracelet in this weather, so I swapped it out for a grey canvas.

I like it, but what’s thoughts of others on here?

Looks good to me! Just enough of a blue hint in the grey to make it work.

I'm not fussed on that, looks like a very nice watch on a very average strap imo

Eye of the beholder! Not for me, I wear mine mostly on a dark blue Hirsch Pure rubber strap: but that's me and doubtless many would dislike that!

Sorry but it's not a good match between bezel and strap.

You could always try upgrading to the adjustable clasp. Just a thought,

Again sorry a no for me. But its what you think that realy counts.
As above, get the micro clasp fitted.
Changes the fitting of the watch by + 100%.

I second comments above about the ratchet clasp, makes a world of difference to the fit. I chose the one with the diver's extension as I wanted to keep this aspect of the original clasp, but it does make it rather long. You can also go with a no extension version that's a lot shorter (I have this on my Speedmaster!).

I like canvas straps but I think this would be a much better combination if the strap was dark blue...

The problem with a lot of aftermarket straps is that they are completey flat at the point where they join the lugs, creating a look which often looks odd. If you go for an Omega strap they are usually curved and look a lot better, although they are more expensive.

Check out the current Speedmaster Straps thread, almost an identical thread. You might get some good ideas from there.

Thanks a lot. Will do. As I’ve had a resounding no from most people, it’s made me look differently at my choice so will be removing it.

I think I will now add a NATO to it. As it’s summer I may add a red white and blue coloured one? Thoughts?

    Thanks everyone too

Are you sure that's grey canvas - it looks more like silver nylon from the photo? I thing grey canvas might look alright.

Personally I rather like grey straps, but I think they suit black watches more than blue ones...

For blue watches I'd generally stick to blue straps...

I wear mine on the OEM Omega rubber double-ridge with the adjustable butterfly-clasp.

    I'm with mycroft on this.

I think it's hard to beat the combination of a blue isofrane matched with the SMP:

    To the OP:

If you like the look of Willie's SMP/ISOfrane combination but can't stomach the price of an actual ISOfrane, check out the Borealis look-alikes. Just Google 'Borealis Watch'. They are brilliant (equally as good imo) and less than a quarter of the price...

I think it’s the colour of the watch strap that makes it look a bit off for me. It seems a bit shiny. I had a grey Cordura strap on my Planet Ocean. I bought it from Weston Watch Straps (no affiliation!).

Non-ceramic SMP owner here. Canvas straps can work, even grey ones. A few shades darker and non as 'shiney' and you'd be sorted I think.

I hadn't seen those, Simon, so thanks for that.

I have a Obris Morgan isofrane-lookalike on my Seiko BFK and have been very happy with that too:

[QUOTE=greasemonkey;4794947]my SMP lives on this blue sharkskin in the summer months ...[/Q Di-Modell Shark and Hirsch Heavy calf both look great on Seamasters and are 100m water resistant +they wont break the bank. The alternative is to go for the Omega OEM straps ........

The best strap I found for a SMP was a cousins submariner rubber, it was perfect and cheap as chips

Hi Craig, have you got a link to that? I’d love a rubber strap for my full size 41mm 2531 Bond and have tried a couple from eBay neither of which fitted. I this one is a know entity to fit I’d be grateful for a pointer.

    Thanks a lot
