Thread: Help a young lad battling cancer realise his dream of 1000 youtube subscribers

  1. #51
Amazing and heartbreaking at the same time that subscribing to this lad's youtube channel meant so much to him.
There really aren't any words for this type of heart ache.

I've been in touch with Finn's family during the past few days and they have responded with some lovely personal messages. Lorraine, his mum, has nominated a local charity called 'Gold Geese' for donations in Finn's memory. At the moment they only take donations via bank transfer so I need to work out the logistics of including them in a fundraising raffle as I'd like to make it a lump sum transfer from TZers. A JustGiving crowdfunding page looks like a viable option.

Gold Geese uses donations towards spreading awareness, providing gifts and organising memorable events, as well as funding therapy and additional support for those children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Laura has received similar support from a small charity based in North Wales called Nicola's Fund so I'm well aware of how fantastic these local organisations are.

    Lorraine added this important message:

Matthew, could I, also, please, ask if you and your friends would continue to subscribe to and support Finn’s channel. It is our intention to monetise the channel in order to use it as a platform to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer charities. In order to achieve this, part of the criteria we need to meet is that we have 4000 viewing hours, per annum. Finn’s best friend, Oscar, has agreed to continue on Finn’s behalf and our family and friends are contributing, too. Finn left a remarkable legacy and we hope that may enable us to help others that are in a similar situation.

    So keep watching!

Oh no. Such a brave, brave lad. I'm humbled. I watched some of his channel but not too recently, I didn't realise he had passed. This is so sad. I'm going to watch more tomorrow in his memory, he deserves it.

Absolute respect and admiration to you Finn. You are still a brilliant young lad.

Please do post links when sorted Mr C. Very good of you to sort this. Please PM me for a raffle prize if that is what's done.

The raffle is now running over in Watch Talk and it's off to a great start. I hope that as many of this fantastic community as possible are able to support Gold Geese and other childhood cancer charities this month.

Lorraine has sent me this message regarding our support for Finn's YouTube Channel and the Gold Geese fundraiser (which closes tomorrow).

Hi Matthew, that’s fantastic news! Many thanks for supporting Gold Geese and also for your continued support in sharing and subscribing to Finn’s channel. You really did make a difference to Finn’s last few weeks and brought a smile to his face and I will always be grateful to you and cherish those moments xx

The issue of the lack of awareness of the symptoms of childhood cancer was raised in the House of Commons this week, specifically mentioning Finn.

    Yeap,
Took me a whole year to pass 1000 subscribers, I upload regularly, almost 4-5 videos a week. I do not promote my videos anywhere. Right now I'm trying to get 10000 subs by the end of next year, using services of Socialboss https://socialboss.org/buy-youtube-subscribers/
