No school tomorrow so will be having a few beers catching up on Taskmaster.
Yorkshire Square. The definitive Yorkshire Bitter.
Loving Hop House 13 at the moment. Lovely beer. Also 'Properly Job' a Cornish IPA is great for a crisp, citrus brew.
At my favourite pub - Big Lamp for me tonight

Shiver me timbers..........
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Neon Raptor's brambleberry Lassi Gose for me tonight, my first ever of this style. Always a bit of a gamble trying something new, thankfully it paid off with this one!

why fallout 3 is better than new vegas
I'm not working tomorrow...
Burnt Mill's Nelson Fog is for seconds tonight, named after Nelson Sauvin hops and London Fog yeast used in the brewing process. Burnt Mill have released a few London Fog ales, they're all belters.

Been enjoying a few bottles of Marstons 61 Deep Pale Ale, very refreshing and not overly strong, makes a nice change to the local fare if a wee bit dearer.
Tonight a touch of the local strong beer "Red Horse". Back in the day they never used to put the alcohol percentage on as it used to vary hugely. Now it's 6.9%, apparently

New country new beer
I am dying for a pint of Guinness...
My local has only recently put on the very delightful Timothy Taylor Landlord... my wife and I are currently depleting their 2nd barrel!
Think it’s popularity will encourage regular supply!

4 cans of Carlsberg special brew,BUT I've just noticed it's no longer 9%!.
Why is that?,I'm a responsible drinker and sit on the park bench minding my own business with my mates.

Lidl Ruby Rooster. With a rather sweet 1960s Buler Automatic.
The fridge was looking bare so I thought I'd get a selection in None for tonight, though.
Each is a different spin on a theme - from L-R a DIPA, Imperial Milkshake IPA, Sour Mandarin IPA, DDH IPA, Sour IPA and a DDH NEIPA.

It's great to see all of the good quality beer which we're drinking, rather than the bland soulless pints which seem to still be part of many bars and restaurants stock (I'm thinking about such forgettable delights such as John Smiths).
I'm quite fortunate in that there are a good few pubs my way that pride themselves on the pints they pull, a few even host their own festivals with both local and other guest beers to try out. If people want to stick to their pint of "mild" then good for them (in the same way that we all have different taste in watches) however when you start to explore what's out there then I'm in full agreement - something like John Smiths wouldn't even score a "meh" from me.
It does feel like falling down a rabbit hole though, all be it in a good way, and the beer shop that I use always has something new in and it's great fun exploring different styles. As my post above shows there are six cans there and they're all variations of IPA using a range of hops and brewing techniques, the downside is that when you find a beer you absolutely adore you can't get it again due to the short run nature of most micro-breweries - they'll release a load of beers and then move on to others after.
Another thing that I truly appreciate is that many of these breweries put quality as their No.1 priority with (retail) price a minor consideration. Their beers cost what they cost due to the ingredients and effort put in to brewing them, not because they've compromised on the finished product. Those 440ml cans above average £6 each, one of the Lassi Gose ales in the shop sells for £13, though to compare them to a cost-per-can crate of Stella is to somewhat miss the point. Besides, how much does a decent bottle of wine or spirit cost?
Something refreshing tonight

Home brew for me tonight.
Rather good it is too
A new one Bombardier golden beer ( 4.3%) not bad in the lighter beer stakes and at £3.50 for 4 500ml in Asda at the mo not bad value.
Had a Hobgoblin to start, and now one I haven't had for a while . . .

This. I know it's a school night but I've just come off-call and very much deserve it. Might have some crisps too.
Had to pop into town to drop off my CWC diver for a battery, reseal and test, so not being rude . . .
. . . the Sam Smiths lives for another day!
