16520 potential deal - opinions please

Sticking with my three watch philosophy, I am considering a trade for an unpolished, 1994 full set, white dial Zenith. The broad terms of the deal are my 2018 blue dial SkyDweller and Explorer 214270 plus c. £12,000. This would leave me with the Daytona plus the two GMTs (16700 and 216719 BLRO). The asking price for the Daytona is a bit toppy, but a full set original watch is what I am after and the SkyDweller returns a reasonable increase in value. I am a bit out of touch with Zenith prices, and some members here have recently acquired them, so opinions on the above terms would be much appreciated. Thanks.

MarcJ has one for sale. £22500 I think?

Top guy to deal with too.

As above MarcJ has one for 22,950 but it's from 1997.

Thanks. I saw that on C24, but it was not present on his site, so assumed it was sold.

It will be interesting to hear how you get on with it.

The 16520 was the watch that I really wanted the most, I almost foamed at the mouth when I first saw it. When I got it home I started to think that the thing was perhaps over hyped and lots of other people feel the same.

Having said that, I quite often fall back in love with it and the cycle then repeats itself. I have decided to hang onto mine, even if I only like it 50% of the time, it's still a good watch.

I find that my vintage Rolexes invariably bring a feeling of contentment and wellbeing, as becomes their age, rather than outright thrill. The latter comes from my new models, the 126719 being a case in point. That is my stunning, foam at the mouth, piece. Nonetheless, the 16520 is much anticipated.

I have an S serial (inverted 6) and love mine. A lot of people don’t get on with the Daytona or are underwhelmed when they get to handle one. This wasn’t the case for me and the watch continues to grow on me.

Well that worked out rather well. I take back what I said above. This is indeed a cause for foaming at the mouth!
Truly excellent service from Marc J.

The SkyD and Exp1 will not be missed.

Congrats and I hope you enjoy it. Will this be your daily beater ?

All you need to do now is practice how to line up your minute hand to the second hand on the sub dial. Once you got the knack it is easy peasy.

Thank you. It is by no means a safe queen, a fact I am happy with as it means I can be more carefree in it’s use. The movement was serviced in 2015, and I am in two minds as to whether I shall send it to RSC after a month or two on my wrist. Then again, I would not want it returned perfect, as that would be self-defeating.

Great pick up Simon, it really is the Daytona to own in my opinion and such a wonderful clean looking watch as well. You’ve bought well and it’s Better than money in the bank as they say
