What options are there for a IWC reverse panda?

    Cheers,

I have a crush for the look of the IWC reverse panda but cant stomach the price. What options are there for the look with a smaller price tag? - I know about the vintage Seikos and a somewhat similar looking MarcelloC. But what else is there that has this look of white stacked bi-subdials on a black main dial?

I don't like contrasting subdials. Because one, I can't see the main hands when they pass over them and two, for stylistic reasons.

    Thanks John,

the Breitling is a neat watch but I rally like the subdials on top of each other like on the PRS-12

    Hey Jussi,

The Speedbird, is the best choice.

    John

P.S I just realized that the sub dials were side by side, and not on top of each other!

I couldn’t buy the Hami even tho I like it AND it looks good. I even have trouble seeing the time from 4.30 to 7.30 on my PRS-50 when the hands pass over the NO RADIATION symbol. I hope it doesn’t piss me off too much.

A watch that would make my blood boil would be something like this ... I’d constantly be trying to figure out where the hands should and might be.

For some reason, the Zeno just doesn't work in my eyes. The IWC is elegant whereas the Zeno just seems clumsy. Perhaps it is the hands or the tachy ring, but something seems wrong about the watch.

I like the SB, but at 38mm, it doesn't have the same look at the IWC -- it misses out on the large, flat open presentation of the IWC. It is a good looking watch, though.

Of the others, the Marcello C (despite the lack of white dials) seems to best capture the magic of the IWC. The B&M is also very nice, but I really dislike Roman numerals and find them to be especially out of place on that watch.

Good luck with the search, Jussi. It will be tough to come close to the original, but the SB seems to be the best bet.

    Cheers,

    Jay

I think the Alpina would be really nice if the numerals were all the same orintation - e.g. as IWC 3717 - and the hands were better - certainly the minute hand needs to be longer. Maybe old-schoool IWC hands...
