I think Kerry's 45mm unworn one kick started it. Someone mentioned "if only it were 42mm". Alas one went up for 2k, someone said "bargain", and then others jumped on the opportunity.
Makes sense.
I found it quite strange that several have been offered for sale on the forum in different variations and sizes. These are fantastic and very well made watches which are unlikely to hang around.
Grab one while you can!

Mine's the only "expensive" watch I've bought brand new. I'm keeping mine! Love it.
Cheers,
Plug
I keep being tempted to get another PO
or better yet hunt down and buy back the one I used to have
Sold my 2201.50 back in 2009 to a forum member, gotta wonder if its still about.
with that in mind, if you happen to have one bought from Laings on 27/06/08 that might be my old one :)

I'm hugely tempted by the orange one like yours OP - I love the playfulness of it!
As an owner of a 8500 equipped 41.5mm PO I agree, fabulous watches. almost tempted to buy another when i see them for sale!
Love my PO, first really decent watch I bought new, and probably the last I'd ever sell.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
same for me, first luxry watch i bought, only one bought new, bought as a 40th present to myself, will only part with it if I'm broke.
One of my favourite pieces in my modest collection. Got it when work let you pay for travel to the US on your own credit card and Goldsmiths had their 4 for 1 offer in Tesco Clubcard. Hey, I'm not proud!

I own two Planet Ocean watches; one near identical to the 2500 (that I only wear on certain occasions as it has special meaning for me) that has sold on here twice in recent days and an 8500 45mm. As crazy as it sounds I was so tempted to buy the 2500 that came up again today from fordy964. I had to head out and do some work in the garden to stop myself!
Wearing mine now...nice old chunk of metal

I’ve always got a Planet Ocean in the collection, usually a Chronograph version which are even more unloved and unappreciated, the quality is superb in every way.

I've had both the 45mm and 42mm 2500 (current) in the collection. Such a versatile watch.
Loving my latest arrival the 43.5mm 8900

Yes I was delighted to receive such a perfect PO from Kerry but just couldn't carry the 45mm off. I knew it as soon as it approached my wrist and it just looked huge on me. This despite a usual diet of the likes of Sinn U1, MM300 and a fairly large Navitimer. Seems that my limit is 44mm.
My brief time with a perfect PO 2500 though has whetted my appetite. I need a 42mm but will have to be patient to be both there at the right time again and find one that isn't a dinged up daily needing work. That's probably a big ask as these are quite obviously perfect daily wearers.
Count me a fan having stared at one for much of the last 24 hours.
Big fan of my PO...It's a versatile watch which seems to fit in perfectly with whatever I'm doing.

I don't know how to load pics..It's the same as the OP's on the same black rubber with orange stitching.
Great replies to this thread!
I think I might look for a bracelet to change the look of mine, I do like the rubber strap as its very comfortable.
So pleased with my recent chrono form SC - had had loads of comments in the last couple of days saying much nicer than my Rolex and Breitlings!
Unlike many, I prefer the smaller 37.5 mm planet ocean. The chronograph with orange bezel is my favourite.
Will somebody please sell me theirs? Looking for a 42mm 2500D. Now.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.

2500D has obvious appeal, the co- axial escapement is basically the same as the 8500, but I wouldn’t rule out a 2500C if the watch is in really good condition with recent Omega service. I’m not a fan of the co- axial movement but that doesn’t stop me owning one, I like the watch and that takes priority. Mine’s a 2500C Seamaster and it’s been absolutely fine, I think a 2500C is a safe buy.
The PO is a class act, can’t argue with the quality.
[QUOTE=jk103;5228247]
They are great watches and my Planet Oceans are my daily wearers rotating between the orange and black.
Over the years (due to their size) I have had a few scrapes with door handles and have had three new Orange bezels as a result of scrapes.
The black ceramic is more robust although I tend to adopt a napoleon pose when passing through rooms !
Mine was one of those up for sale this week. I'm on my 4th PO, my first was a 45mm 2500 which I really liked but as time went by it began to feel too big and heavy for my wrist size. When the 8500 came out I bought the newer model in 42mm and sold the 45mm 2500, the slightly smaller size felt better balanced and more suited to a 6.75 inch wrist
About 18 months ago I reluctantly decided to sell my AP Roo diver (I could rarely wear this as it was a total scratch magnet and I like my watches to be in good order). Wih the funds raised I decided to buy two watches that I could wear regularly, these were the PO Deep Black and the PO 8900 Titanium. If I could only have one watch it would be a PO of some type for sure. I only sold the 42mm as I predominantly wear the newer ones these days and needed to raise some funds for a new business venture.
I still have these two and expect that to remain the case until Omega sell either a 43.5 ceramic and / or a black dial 43.5 titanium.
Here's one that I'm unlikely to ever sell. I bought this in 2011 and it's been faultless (it's a 2500C, I think). Had it serviced last year and it's as good as new.
Mate, isn't this the Liquid Metal Limited Edition?! It's definitely a 2500D but, more importantly, much more sought after and valuable than the regular 42mm 2500 PO.
It's a bit hidden in your photo, but I think I can make out the [Zr02] underneath the Seamaster writing and, unless the saturation of the image is flawed, the Seamaster writing and the second hand are red?
Does your watch look like this?
I may be wrong but I believe the LM LE 2500 model was only ever available with a ‘C’ movement.
Easiest way to verify a ‘D’ movement was the serif font on the ‘1’ on the date wheel. Other than that there was a serial number cutover, I can’t recall what the number was though but I do recall it not being absolute according to some research anyway.
