Loving this Open Heart Presage.

Thanks very much it's just lovely but not quite new as was used as intended for a few years in the 80's. Still pretty good for 39 years old.
I posted on the Seiko/Citizen watch forum after picking it up last week.
Saw the watch on eBay and decided to take a look and met up for a coffee in Llangollen which isn't too far from me and the seller was a chap in his 70's from Ellesmere.
Here's the full post below (Lots of pics sorry).
Well today was a vey good day indeed and one that will live long in my memory. Been after one of these beauties for a long time and as many here will know it was the worlds first quartz saturation diving watch released in 1978.
Seiko wisely reissued it in 2018 to commemorate the 40th anniversary and having always liked the original I decided to buy this limited edition reissue at the time. This happened to be somewhat expensive at around £2000 but I took the plunge and haven't regretted it as its just lovely.
Even though it was a very faithful recreation of the original bar the depth rating increase and smooth bezel shroud I've found the "itch" for the SQ 600m hadn't gone away. Fortunately spotted one for sale though sellers pics weren't great so arranged a meet up to see it in person today and was blown away. He had bought it new in the 80's for his wife to dive in though they were both keen divers and did so all over the world. After giving up many years ago it was a familiar story, watch goes into a drawer and is forgotten about.
Thankfully for me he dug it out and sent it off to Seiko UK where it had a full strip down and service costing £245 last month. Shared a coffee with the owner today and he appeared a very knowledgeable about saturation diving ,clearance diving and decompression etc. Absolutely fascinating information but he did lose me a bit with it all.:)
Is was well worth meeting up as he was only 40 minutes away and I wasn't prepared to "take a punt" on some slightly dark and grainy pictures for a fairly big chunk of change.
Anyhow enough waffle, on with the pics.
Surprised how long the original strap was. Not sure if it's the standard length or an optional strap to go over a wetsuit. Not only was it too long to wear it was also pretty stiff and uncomfortable and didn't want it to fail so decided to change it.
Here pictured with the 1978 reissue.
And more shots comparing the old and new model. I do like the newer model a lot but less so the shorter second hand and hadn't realised Seiko had changed this until today. Will certainly be keeping both though even though they're pretty similar.
A range of pics and I'm really pleased with the condition and it exceeded expectations when I saw it.
Swopped strap to an Uncle Seiko GL831 with the original buckle which is nice and short, super comfy and has the correct vintage look.:)
Thanks for looking and let's see those Golden Tunas guys.
Cheers
Neil

I had to confiscate this watch from my dad after he somehow destroyed the bracelet (actually I’ll post pics of that another time) and slowly now wearing this watch more. Quite liking it now!

Yes I am pleased!
Still rocking the Seiko Hulk.....
Until the new Seiko arrives tomorrow!
Is anyone going to buy one of the new Presage Seikos?
I like the look of the SPB131J1
There are a couple of Euro stores advertising it for €830.

017 for me today and for a few weeks
^^^^^ Very nice. An absolute classic
Using the OEM endlinks and clasp with an aftermarket solid links steel bracelet bought from China. I think it works very well on my SNXS79.
First up my SKX009
Secondly, my Vintage diver mod
Finally, and something a little bit different, not to say very rare. My new condition Black Ripley
Very much a Marmite watch, possibly with a spoonful or two of Bovril added in for good measure. I found an old thread when the watch was released and the number of haters well outnumbered those who appeared to like it. Personally, I love it, so when this appeared on SC I had to have it.
The dial and hands change appearance in different lights. In the first pic everything looks almost white.
In a more moody light, some of the true colours come out:
In some articles the dial was referred to as swimming pool like. I think this image captures that a little:
Finally, this image reflects everything in a true light:
I think it was the mix of colours, a copper like second and hour hand and rose gold markers that upset some of the haters. They wanted everything to be identical. My advice to them is to stick to stainless steel
Although the size is 44mm, it does wear a lot smaller, but that dial - wow, just wow.
Is it the model sold in the German market, SLA015, a LE of 2,000 pieces or the SLA013J1 sold in the Thai market, limited to 222 pieces?
I never been able to see the differences between the two, they both look the same to me - maybe the references on the caseback are different
I can see why it was produced for the Thai market as lots of Seiko LE's for that market are colourful.
what puts me off are the hands, not only the shape and design, but also the different colours and the overall use of colours on the dial, hands and bezel just seems "uncoordinated"
I'm sure from a Collectors standpoint it will always be wanted

It is the SLA015 from Germany, limited to 200 watches, not 2,000.
To be honest I think it is identical to the Thai Zimbe SLA013. The case back might be slightly different as the Thai issue is part of their Zimbe series of watches.
Each to their own and all that, but nothing more boring than a box full of identical black divers in my opinion.
I found the ad below for the Thai 013.

Thanks. It was a bit of a left field purchase for me as I have been collecting Seiko Alpinists, but I had seen it listed on previous occasions and was keen to give it a go. Size wise is fine, I was worried that it would be too big, but it does wear smaller for a 44mm watch, more like a 42mm really. The colour is stunning, though not to everyone's taste.
If I do decide to move it on I will list it on here first. Here it is with two Alpinist limited editions, a trio of Blue LEs.
Trying some straps combo, I quite like it on the SARB017 oem bracelet but it will stay on the honey leather for some time

Incoming for me this week, my first 1000m tuna. Couldn’t be happier
That's absolutely awesome looking, fella.
I wonder if his receipt says that it cost much less than it actually did, then gets found out, then isn't allowed in the really nice display case for the next 2 years?
It is a really nice bit of kit, but as a red I'm just not sure how comfy it would sit on my wrist.
