Ah the Guardian... late to the party and armed with next to no information. I must remember to buy all my watches from major auction houses from here on. Nonetheless, the author of the piece has my sympathy, she’s clearly getting sucked in to this slippery slope and will be welcomed to the forum soon!

The auction comment made me roll my eyes - not great advice. Too many horror stories. Trusted dealers and provenance for me is still the most reliable route.
