Is that strap so poor quality?
Been there. It was pure luck I took my mrs watch to adjust time. Strap ir Hirsch by the way.
My farer came on a QR strap. Almost lost it pulling a coat on whilst leaning off a truck. Absolutely hate them. Never had a proper strap go though.

I don't trust straps with glued ends for exactly this reason.
Wow, it is clear on both these straps that, although the appearance is one of stitching, the stitches have nothing to do with closure over the springbar. In both cases it looks like a simple glue failure has opened up the strap at the lugs, doesn't it?
OP, that badge on the inside looks like a Di-Modell, not Hirsch. Are you sure?
Yet another reason why no one should ever wear a watch on their right wrist!

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I used to have a Cartier roadster chrono which came with a bracelet and 2 straps, with their own quick change mech. Wore it whilst skiing many years ago. When stopped I checked the time and noticed one end of the bracelet had detached. Luckily a tight cuff had prevented me losing whilst on the move.

Has anyone ever had standard (not Cartier proprietary) quick release spring bars fail?
I don't know if I trust them.
I had a rubber strap on an Omega I think (I forget the particular watch right now) and if it snagged on anything, the rubber would grip the shoulder of the the springbar and pull it open.
Came off a couple of times putting on or off weatherproof jackets with tighter cuffs.
Edit - was a Breitling Aerospace

I ordered a really nice grey leather strap recently, with quick release bars - that were advertised and shown fitted to a Submariner.
Looked great. When the strap arrived, I put it on my own Submariner. The quality of the strap was superb.
But the spring bars were a smidgen beyond the strap length. Far too short in my view.
I reluctantly returned the strap. Cant risk it with such a high value watch. Just can't.
Come to think of it, any watch I'd be gutted no matter of value. This thread sends shivers down my spine...
Spring bar failures are one of the reasons I'm such a fan of pull through straps of all kinds.
