My first thought is that it is fake, although the engraving looks good quality.
Do you have a wider view of the whole caseback, and what is the watch?
This (see below) is on the back of a modern watch, up for sale; and it's something I'm not aware has ever been issued to anyone (but I could be wrong).
I think the first bit says bought by the Royal Navy (0552) and that it's a government issue military watch (6645). Then there's the broad arrow. Then 05-223, which doesn't seem to mean anything to me. Technically the US has 05, in that it has everything from 01-09, but it doesn't use it as far as I'm aware, just uses 00 and 01. And 223? The last bit makes no sense to me and I'm coming to the view that this is either a Walt fantasist's watch and they've done it themselves, or that someone's done it to try to add value to the thing.
Or of course it's completely legit but I just don't understand it. Any grown-ups help please?

Ta. Think the same. I’m just heading to work but will dig out a better pic later or tonight. It’s on a Seiko Black Monster.
