Thread: APH Dial Daytona

    APH Dial Daytona

Browsing the net as you do and came across what I guess is the latest find from the Rolex fanboys/profiteers.
“APH” dial on a Daytona. Supposedly the words APH are misprinted with a gap between them and the rest of “COSMOGR APH”.
Lo and behold I glance down at my Daytona and it would appear I’ve been blessed by the Rolex gods

This is very anecdotal, but I think I’d read somewhere that they’re no rarer than normal dials (across whatever period they were made).

If it is you might want to check authenticity. ;)

There do seem to be a lot of these APH dials around. I would put them on a par with the GMT stick and rectangle dials, dealers try to make a big thing of it in order to boost the asking price. Not sure they would regard it as so desirable if you were selling to them.

Give me a Zenith Daytona Mark 1 floating dial, a Mark 2 four liner or a Mark 3 inverted 6 any day of the week

    More nonsense

If I noticed that when looking at someone's Daytona (which I probably wouldn't), I'd assume it was a fake. Quite shoddy really!

If you order a new white dial from rolex, which I sometimes do, xtal breakage etc, we always get APH dials still, so they're plenty in stock and not seen as an error or anything by Rolex.... anyone paying extra for it is... well fool, money, etc.

But there are many fools when it comes to Rolex. I'm still at a loss at how people believe the sh!te that goes with this brand.

Greater fool theory means there should be an end game looming somewhere... I'll gladly watch the crash from the sidelines.

Wonder why not as it clearly doesn't look right! As said, definitely not rare just from the number I have seen online.

APH nonsense. Dealers asking for a premium for shoddy quality control by Rolex and customers buying into the bollocks and paying the premium believing they are getting something rare and unique.

Imagine an estate agent telling you that although the house is built the wrong way round it makes it a unique selling point and you should be gladly paying over the asking value. Would you?

    APH reveal

Most important thing for me is to own a minty 116520 as it was a long term grail. Chromalight a bonus, APH not really significant, as said there are probably more white APH between 2013 and 2015 than regular spaced dials.

The blue chroma definitely looks better than the green (I have the latter) - but you buy what you can get!
