    Massive loss to football this one, Treble winner with Liverpool was something special for him a nodded bit so many achievements

    One of a handful of managers / Coaches that seemed to have been universally respected and liked by fans of all persuasions. met him once in Liverpool very briefly and he was a proper gent.

    He was the guy the French FA gave the job to transform French football from the grassroots up with a remit to win the WC which they did. RIP Gerard

    Nearly 20 years since his heart attack, so in some ways a blessing that he had the extra time.

    My first thought was how lucky he was to have 20ish years following his heart attack. As above - probably a blessing.

    Seemed to be admired by his players, which is rare.

    RIP.

    I probably got to most of my games when he was the boss,brought the trophies back to anfield,and was responsible for bringing some now legends into the side .
