    Help with a strap please

I'm looking for a strap for my Grand Seiko, and this is pretty much perfect. The person on whose wrist it is didn't reply when asked by someone else what it was, and there's no way I can contact and ask them about it. Any idea where it could be from, or do you know where I can buy something very similar please? That shade of brown, grained like that, stitching only down the sides, 20/16mm, thin and not padded:

Any idea where that owner was based, out of interest? That may offer a clue.

Atelier Romaine straps are top notch (Mickael is a member here), and the one linked above does look to be a close match, but I have a feeling based on the colour it may be this one: https://shop.hodinkee.com/collection...calfskin-strap

It's a saffiano leather strap - sometimes just called grained calf and sometimes associated with the Parisian saddlers, Hermes. I think the colour of that one is cognac. There are lots of makers of them - the last two I've bought were by Molequin.

If you do go with Molequin then I'd recommend spending the extra €15 for their premium buckle (even if you don't fit it to the Grand Seiko).

There is a seller of cheap ones on Ebay but, in practice, these are only a gateway drug. I can't remember where I got it from but I bought one that was in the region of $70-80 and it was only a bit better than the Ebay one.

I have this on my Eterna:

Thin, grained, supple and straight stitch.

But they only have a 19mm left which is 16mm at the buckle:

Excellent, thank you. I'm planning on finding a GS buckle, or failing that a plain old Seiko one (my GS has 'Seiko' at the top of the dial so that buckle would work nicely).

The owner was an Australian YouTube presenter, who may or may not have been involved in scandal earlier this year (although I'm not sure it's the same person, I just found the picture on Google and tried to find out more about it)

Ah, say no more! Email him again saying you're looking for a ceramic Daytona - bet you get a reply then :)

That's not saffiano - it looks more akin to the Kaufmann Taurillon.

I've just bought one of those and they're lovely.

I have a GS buckle on a plain old Seiko Champion - I'd stick with your plan for a GS buckle.

I wonder if it is possible to make something like this by myself. I've never tried, but I'm ready to buy a professional good machine for this reason.
