It's gotten a little bit out of hand this year, so a cull is in order. All I need to do is decide which ones I can part with...(and please excuse the poor photo quality).

Below is me ... the W10 has now been sold.

I wear the BB58 most of the time ... it could easily be my only watch.

Having just parted with three Rolex plus some other watches either to family or back to members here on TZ, I think that leaves me with possibly the least sporty small watch collection here (?).

That said, I am really happy with those that remain and think that I still have a watch suitable for most occasions.

Below, is what I managed to photograph before my camera battery ran out; I do have a few other watches which are either beaters or which have real sentimental attachment.

My aim for 2021 is to get the spotty dial on the Connie cleaned-up !

Wishing all a jolly New Year.

Had a slim down this year selling a vintage Precision and wonderful Zenith Pilot (on page 1 😀) but think I’ve kept a good balance. I’m hoping to add something in ‘21, maybe a 38mm El Primero or white dial Globemaster.

A far more detailed answer than I anticipated. Thank you very much for the info. It'll likely be 2022 now so time to save after a baby arrives in Feb and a house move in the next few months!

New watch roll for 4 watches to replace my 6 watch box.
Also have a Stowa Flieger and Glycine Airman but only want to keep 4, these are the 4 I want to keep but my daughter says the Oris and the Tudor's dials are too similar to keep both in a small collection so still undecided.

I’ve had a busy year of modding and restoring Seikos, most of which were sold to fund the Pewter Heuer. I’ve hunted this one for years so really glad to get one.

I’m still modding/building watches, hence the two in the bottom right. I’ve got another case incoming to build a more dressy style watch.

For 2021 I’d really like to add a Grand Seiko to the collection.
That Heuer is stunning, never seen one before. Congratulations!

Thanks! It’s a 510.503, pretty rare but having the day as well as date makes it even more rare. Spent probably 5 years hunting one down.

That looks like a Carapaz watch roll! Very nice and well worth the money.

With the bremont now heading back to WOS, this is the collection I'll be ending the year with, quite a bit flipping in the second half of the year. Not planning anything in 2021.

Yes Ben it is from Carapaz, I'd fancied one for a while and got it before Christmas with Black Friday sale but had to pay a VAT charge before it was delivered which cancelled out the discount. It is lovely though, I think I saw that you had one?

A year of consolidation for me with several watches departing to enable me to secure a Zenith Daytona.

That pretty much cleared the decks, but I had been looking for an Undone Simple Union limited edition (of just 40) and managed to find one of those.

So I end 2020 with just two watches.

I have bought a further two watches which won't arrive until after the New Year, but they will be regarded by me as 2020 purchases.

I did have a Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue on order for my 60th birthday in 2021, but having been let down by the AD that won't be happening now.

I still fancy an Omega Speedmaster Moonphase (Aldrin footprint) with the Blue dial. I did have the Black dial a few years back and foolishly sold it. So if one of those in good condition appears on SC that would be a fitting replacement for the Milgauss.

A bit of chop and change this year but net zero in terms of numbers.

    swaps:

Rolex CHNR -> Rolex YM40 RG
    Breitling Aerospace -> Omega X33
Zenith CP2 PuristsPro -> Rolex 124060 (not quite equivalent)
    Omega SeMP 43mm non-date -> Omega Apollo 8 DSOTM

I did briefly own a AP ROO, but that swapped out to help buy the YM40 RG.

This years end of looks like this:

Just checking back to pictures of last years set (November 2019)

That's where I am at the moment, the GMT has developed the date issue after a year so that's going back, and the 2 Hanharts are off for a service so down to 3 in the New Year!

Very busy year with a total of 29 buy or sell transactions.
I’m left with 11 watches, which is more than enough if I want to maintain any sort of rotation.

I split them into three categories:

    Pilots

    Divers

And “dress” watches (one formal, one more casual)

Here’s to 2021, happy new year TZ!!

Great collection Ben, the addition of the racing dial Speedy is fantastic and you know I always love the Electroquartz. Speaking of which theres a near perfect one(Electroquartz that is) for sale over on Omega forums at an excellent price, but with the news they even STS will no longer touch these now I just couldn't risk it any more. Such a shame.

Beautiful watches on this thread. May I humbly submit my additions for 2020. Mostly purchased. Some gifted. A few mods I have constructed. It was a bit of an eye opener to realise just how many I have collected this year. Not my complete collection by any means.
All the best for the coming new year.

Aptly timed thread given that Father Christmas brought me a 12 slot watch box as I had outgrown the previous 6 slot box. Aim is not to add any more, the IWC will hopefully give way to a 2021 incoming but other than that, no planned changes!

    2020 close out SOTC.

More out than in during 2020 so a slight contraction.

I think I would like to thin out a bit more during 2021.

2020 was the year my collection acquired some thematic focus, and not before time...

    Top: Damasko DC57 | Tauchmeister T0039SE | Archimede Outdoor Protect 39 | Citizen Promaster Tough BN0211-09X | Dekla Pilot 40 Type-B

    Middle: Sinn 140 A

Bottom: Citizen Promaster Tough CA0720-54H | Damasko DC80 | MWC Depthmaster | Swiss Military Hanowa Carbon | MWC 300M Diver

On my wrist or out of shot: Sinn U1 and "Casioak"

The common theme here is utility, durability, legibility - tough, hardened cases, good WR, sapphire crystals, ceramic bezels, Tritium indices, chronograph functions, etc. Nothing ticks every box, quartz mixes with mechanical with solar, compromises abound, but these bring much pleasure in their utility and wearability. I would like to add an orange-dialled something, and then that is it.

Somewhat embarrassingly, there's 30+ more watches kicking-about, a couple from my long-distant youth, a few more retained for purely sentimental reasons, a slew purchased impulsively for their looks but almost never worn and proving unsellable, and perhaps 6 that serve broadly as "Sunday Best", which sadly these days translates as "funerals"... Yeesh...

I sold or donated 14 watches in 2020, and must shift at least that number again this year, and purchase - ideally - nothing.

    Thank you.
Yes it is the tokyo edition, really wanted the Gemini but couldn't justify the price difference. Its been a bit of a love/hate with the speedy, I wanted a dressy(ish) watch for my 40th and main criteria was to be on a bracelet. Unfortunately I just couldn't get on with the bracelet until a few weeks ago when I decided to stick the PO clasp on it, it's perfect now, albeit a bit bulky underneath.

I've been using Tissot service cases which are really good but I also bought the Wolf 3x watch roll in the black Friday sale so could use that now too. I prefer seeing them all by opening one thing rather than one case per watch.
