only ever done a rubber strap and used a stanley knife blade
is it a real kevlar strap Jay?

Hi Guys, exactly what ^^ it says!! Is there anyone out there please who can tell me the best way to notch a strap? I have a kevlar with tubes in that i need to reduce down from about 24mm to 20mm. Do i simply use a hacksaw and a file? I tried searching the forum but it keeps removing the 'how do i' terms!!
Thanks in advance. :)
Jay.

It's a ted(mc)su. Might give a stanley a try, would probably work, would need to take the tubes out somehow and cut these down before refitting.Originally Posted by Karl

Use the corect tool. It's much cheaper than screwing up a strap.
Have a look at cousins website, e.g., Home > Tools > Strap Cutting & Hole Making Tools.
If that doesn't help, there are forum members who make straps, (do a search on SC), who should be able to help, drop them a pm.
Thanks Shoughie, will head over to cousins and see what tools they have.
I've got a few straps some expertly made by the hands of some of the guys here, i find them almost as addictive as buying the watches themselves! No doubt i'd getter a better finish from a pro but just fancy giving it a bash myself. Feels like a bit of an achievement, i guess much like when i changed the first strap myself. :)
24 > 20 seems a big reduction, are you sure that will look OK? Might be better to sell the strap and buy one that fits.
F.T.F.A.
24-20 is absolutely doable and looks good, I will post some pictures later on.

As promised, pictures of my notched 24mm Di-Modell Jumbo to fit 20mm lugs. I think the result is excellent.
i think outstreched hands
would be your best bet on this
hasnt he done it before?
i wouldnt want to do it myself
Sabestian, i think that notching looks fantastic on the seiko.
The watch that needs the strap needs a beefy one and i don't think a straight 20mm or 22mm notched will do it justice. We'll see shortly as i have the necessary arriving soon.
And Magirus, no need to sell a strap, if it doesn't work i'll have to find a watch that fits it :D
he has and his straps are fabulous, that's why i have a couple of them and am eyeing up his fantastic pvd stealth one as well!Originally Posted by ditchdigger
