Looks lovely now, well done for sorting it out properly.
Very slowly, my vintage Seiko collection is building up a head of steam. The story of the latest addition is a bit of a saga but finally it has all come together nicely. Nearly three months ago, I bought a 1975 Seiko 6138-0011 chronograph from an Ebay seller. When it arrived it looked cosmetically good, with a sensitively refinished case and nice looking movement but a slightly rough looking bezel, a rusted and broken movement spring, a poorly repainted sweep hand and worst of all, a movement running five minutes per hour fast! After some protracted negotatiations, I sent it back and after about a month had it back with the movement running sweetly and a rubber gasket in place of the broken movement spring. Hmmmm. In the meantime, I had bought a NOS bezel, a reproduction tempered mineral glass crystal, a NOS sweep hand in the correct orange and a NOS movement spring and finally a rather nice Hirsch Rally strap. Last weekend I fitted it all and the end result looks like this:
I am pretty pleased with it now and in spite of all the stress and hassle of having to return it, I have actually enjoyed the process of sorting it out.

that looks fantastic, I really like the watch, I seem to be gaining a real addiction to vintage seiko's.
:D
Nice one. I am getting very fond of these classic Seikos. I can see why you wanted to persevere. It has paid off in spades! Looks good on that strap too! Kind of reminds me a bit of a 'Bullhead'.
Now that is just freakibng gorgeous. If you ever want to pass it on let me know
Very nice, and one of the few times I've liked a rally strap. I'll have to get myself a vintage Seiko chronograph some time, they seem cracking value for money.
Top job - Looks superb now!

I'm not really into the retro stuff but that watch looks really well restored! Very nice and a new lease of life for that watch 8) No wonder you've enjoyed the work :)
Thats v cool :D
The strap is very retro and really suits the watch and era....... can just imagine wearing one of those while sitting on my egg chair or settee in my retro living room :P
Great looking watch, looks perfect on that strap......love to see a wrist shot for size.
Joe.
Mate, I would be interested in knowing where you got you NOS from. My bezel isn't perfect, and the glass is a little cloudy.
The bezel I bought from Ebay seller Lob Time. He seems to have plenty of them and describes them as NOS. Looking at mine critically, I have no reason to doubt that they are NOS. They appear to be a perfect match with the original and are of very high quality. The glass I bought from Swedefreak on the SCWF - he specialises in original and reproduction Seiko crystals made to the highest standards and to the original spec. He also sells on Ebay as Mr Seiko.Originally Posted by thattallchap

Very Cool ...... normally I don't like this style! But this has a very good look about it, esp. on the strap.
