Been lurking around the forum for a wee while, enjoying the banter and learning quite a bit from some of you. Thanks. Thought it was time to join in and say hello. Have tried to include a few pics - they're not great but haven't done this before. If the links don't work, please be gentle with me.
Got bitten by the watch bug this summer. My dad gave me my grandfather's Rolex, bought in Basra in 1942. It was an Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback but not sure it can be described as such now, since it only works on hand-winding and is apparently riddled with rust. Suppose it is still a Bubbleback though :) It's been with repairers for a couple of months who are allegedly trying to source parts.
Anyway, that is a story for another day. Started looking at something nice to tide me over in the meantime. Got this 50's Longines in July, not knowing anything much about vintage watches. That's not to imply I know anything more about them now, other than that some of them look quite nice.
Then, decided I wanted (needed?) a more everyday watch. After hours of research (to utter dismay of Mrs C) settled on a Nomos Tangomat. I like its nice simple lines and not having to pay "big brand" premium for quality.
Afraid the pic of the movement doesn't do justice to this at all. It's truly gorgeous in real life.
Most recently, after annoying the seller to distraction, finally received this superb PRS14.
I did promise (threaten) Eddie with some embarrassing praise on my first post but what can I say that hasn't been said before. Great product, fantastic service, all round good guy......thanks, Eddie.

Never heard of Nomos personally but I do like that watch you've got there. And that's one of the reasons I joined this forum - to find out about stuff I'd never heard of. So can you tell me a bit more about it please?

Hello! Nice Tangomat, I'd like to have a look at one of those some day, I had a Tangente Date Sport for a while, but I just didn't wear it enough so it got sold. Beautifully made thing, though.
