Rip. Saw him years ago in Brum. Great show.
So sad to hear that Meatloaf has died aged 74. A huge loss on several levels.

Gutted. I have fond memories of listening to him in the car with my dad as a child.

Took the words right out of my mouth, just read this on the news! Very sad indeed, amazing powerful voice, loved bat out of hell back in the day, and he was epic in fight club! RIP big man, you got off this planet when things started to get a little fkd up I’d say!
I was shocked when I saw this on the news
I was not much of a fan but he always came across as decent bloke in interviews who didn’t take his self seriously.
He also delivered Steinman’s lyrics with the humour intended.
Bat out of Hell was a timeless album.
RIP Meatloaf
As a teenager I wore the Bat Out Of Hell cassette tape out playing it in my car. RIP big fella.
Sad news.
Shocking and sad. You'll forever be bathed in the glow of the dashboard light man!
I was shocked to hear this.
RIP big man.
Terrible news. RIP
My kids knew whenever they got a lift in my car they would be listening to MEAT LOAF, RIP, really sad to hear of his passing :(
One of my favorites.

He wasn’t my cup of tea but I have fond memories of ‘Bat out of Hell’ and ‘Anything for Love dominating the Box (music television you control) back in the early to mid 90s .

R.I.P Meatloaf. A truly great performer and showman.
Logged in just to see this thread.
RIP Meatieloaf.
I’m sure I still have the original LP “Bat Out Of Hell”, from it’s original release. Played it again and again at the time, and still occasionally watch YouTube Meatloaf Live vids.
Going to see The Classic Rock Show on 2nd Feb. If BOOH wasn’t still in their set-list, I suspect it will be back in there.
RIP Meat Loaf - you created a lot of memories.
Shame, saw him at Ashton Gate when they still used to give out free tickets to the people in the surrounding area.
RIP
Bat Out Of Hell was the first album I bought.
Rest easy big fella.
Larger than life. Didnt go to the 1st UK tour as I had an A level the next day. Failed it, should have gone. there is a BBC doc on him tells his rise to fame.
Sad news. My wife and I were only just watching rocky horror two nights ago too. What a shame.

Never really my cup of tea, but an undeniable presence.
RIP.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
RIP Meatloaf. Very sad news.
Amazing voice but what always surprised me was how good he was on screen. In a few films like fight club he was an actor not a singer in a movie.
Very sad. Great music that spans the generations. I’m a generation behind him and, although Bat Out Of Hell wasn’t my first album purchase, it was my first cd. When I first met my wife in 2001 her niece was ten and listened to Meatloaf constantly. I was only listening to some of his songs last night and my youngest sat and listened with me, which is rare, and she, of course, asked the eternal question “what is it he won’t do?”

Sad. Supposedly a Hartlepool United fan, but I think that was made up.
The silver lining is that it’s a great day to be listening to Radio 2!
Was lucky enough to work with him on a commercial and he was an absolutely top bloke. Day 1, he wanted to know all the crew's names even if he wasn't directly working with them, next day he's second person on set (aside from director) and as people came in he'd remembered all of them from the spark to the set builders, to the runners. Real shame.
What a guy
Made me cry
Und I did!
RIP Meatloaf (but better know in this house as Eddie).

Good question - apparently he explained it here what he won’t do -

A sad day indeed.
He reminded me of the rock equivalent of Pavarotti with his coloured hankies and flouncy sleeves.

His death was Covid related and he had a history of asthma ... not clear whether he was vaccinated ...
