While my taste in watches generally runs to the simple and clear designs, I like the odd bit of quirkiness along the way. This is my current example, a LE Oris Flight Timer:
The contraption at 2 o'clock rotates the inner bezel in half hour steps to track a second time zone, just in case you're wondering.
What constitutes quirky? Well, I reckon the design needs to divide opinion, and should really elicit a bit of a "Huh, WTF?" response from people when they first look at it.
So, what have you got?

This...
Sorry for rubbish photo.
Little edit...
Glad I bought it when I did, it would be £70 more now from Seiya due to the fall in the exchange rate (around 15% more) and then there would be more VAT on top.
The "five eyes" G-SHOCK atomic Mudman, which I sometimes appear to be in a minority of one even on the G-SHOCK forum in liking.
Probably a 24 hour, can't quite get used to it!
This Raketa probably falls into the 'quirky' category.
I think it's a great design:
Cheers :)
Waving Mao for me
The Russian watch and the MAO WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW those are to cool :bounce:
Some interesting bits and bobs shown - love hte Meistersinger.
I don't think I've got a quirky watches, sorry - I think that the truely quirky will probably only be a small part of anyone's collection, and that no one will ever own one watch, and have that watch be a really odd one. I would be suprised if a Meistersinger were owned by someone who only had one watch, if that makes sense. What do people think?
I was given one of these by my missus for Christmas (not my pic)Originally Posted by Dave E

has to be this one ....

I think you're probably right, it's certainly only a very small part of my collection. Mind you, I deliberately said quirky rather than just plain weird because they still need to be usable watches!Originally Posted by Qatar-wol
Some interesting stuff here. I've been tempted by a one hand watch a few times, but have never quite jumped. The 24hr thing does confuse people as well, especially the non-WIS (I've had a couple of Glycine Airmans which had that effect on people).

I used to have one of those and quite liked it, it's just that I like the Atomic Gulfman more and I only really have room for one G in the collection. Have you dyed yours?Originally Posted by Seamaster73

I've no quirky watches .. although having a collection of watches can be seen as quirky by most normal folk!
/vince ..
No quirky ones for me either :(
Respect the past, live the present, protect the future
This is pretty quirky:
I don’t know if it counts as quirky, but the Seagull 1963 tends to make people take a second glance and ask the inevitable “what’s that”.

I do not whether or not this one is "quirky"..., it is different from my other watches at least.
This for me is the quirkiest-
Or it could be the one with a 256Mb USB memory in it but I don't have a picture of that.

It does get a bit trickier telling the time after a few shandies right enough... and you do you look like you've been 'tagged'..

Chromochron - what a great concept - its 3 blues past 10 purples
What a fantastic collection of bizzare watches!
Every second watch from every second manufacturer seems to be a Rolex copy - it's great to see some makers trying to do something a bit different.
See you all back here at 4 dots past light-blue-o'clock!
Here's the bumf:Originally Posted by Ari

Each colour represents an hour and as the cutaway passes through each - time is visualized, as he hoped, with less rigidity. Detailed in Pieter Doensen's book 'Watch - History of the Modern Wristwatch' as the 'anti-stress watch' freeing us from the 'dictatorship of exact time.'"
...so in that pic - about 9:55 (...ish)
The colours are supposedly based on the time of day - so the yellow/orange for when the sun is at it's height and the blues/green for dawn...
this aeromatic....the hands are read on 2 scales over half the dial...extra long hands do 6 hrs or 30 mins each end...
strangely enough i put it in sales corner yesterday!

AS1802, without a doubt. I like it a lot and wear it a lot. But, once in a while it goes belly up. Then I fix it, and it runs like a champ for a while longer. Last April it was gunk from somewhere. Now it is the offset cannon pinon, I think (slipping). So, I take it apart, clean it, then put it back together.
Best wishes,
Bob
It'll be this one for me... :D :D :D
I suppose this is the closest I have to quirky: Vostok albatross radio room

It's nearly 10, and that's the beauty of the chromochron, it tells the time in the way most of us do, i.e. its nearl 10, not its 12 minutes to 10! My only objection is that most of them are rather cheap quartz watches. I did have a 17J manual wind version but sold it once the novelty wore off :DOriginally Posted by langtoft lad
