Not sure I got any use for a strap-on tool at my age… but lovely gesture from donor.

You don't, but it can be useful if I can't identify you from the comment.

We've just smashed through eight grand!

    You are all wonderful people.

Basically, if I can identify you from the list of donors on the JustGiving page then I don't need any further information. The only times that I have problems is when somebody doesn't identify themselves in the comments or accidentally donates directly to the charity instead of via the Team links (for some reason this usually happens very late in the evening ).

I'm fairly meticulous but it is worth checking the list of participants to confirm that I have added you correctly and with the right number of tickets.

A quick word about how the draw will take place on Friday 4 February, World Cancer Day.

Shortly after we close for entries I will upload the participants list to https://www.randomresult.com/ticket.php and schedule an automated 'pick items' draw to take place at a specific time, with the number of items picked matching the number of prizes.

When the automated random draw takes place it will create a placed list of the winning numbers and usernames.

Place #1 will win the Omega Speedmaster, Place #2 the Formex Essence, and so on.

I will announce the results in reverse order in this thread, for those who enjoy the suspense.

randomresult.com will issue a unique 'Ticket Number' which provides a link to the automated draw page. I will post this in a thread in a non-public part of the forum before the draw takes place. The randomresult.com 'Ticket Number' link can be used to view the results at any time after the draw for those who can't wait, but please don't post any give-aways until after the formal announcements have been made.

Here are a couple of excerpts from messages that we have recently received from the two charities, which I would like to pass on. Thanks again, everybody.

    Spread a Smile
I wanted to reach out to say an enormous thank you for having created a wonderful fundraising page in aid of Spread a Smile.
We are hugely grateful for your support.

You have raised such a staggering amount, which will truly be transformative and enable us to spread many more smiles for the most incredible children and teenagers in hospital.

    Young Minds
I can see that you have already raised a substantial amount on behalf of Laura – thank you so much and best wishes to her.

At YoungMinds, we want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health, and all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what. With the generous support of people like you, we are confident we can make these ambitions a reality. Thank you.

List all updated, and there are now exactly 400 tickets in the hat.

There's still room for a few more, and perhaps another nifty prize or two.

It really will. We've seen first hand how Spread a Smile achieve fantastic results on a fairly tight budget. They were there on our first day at GOSH, bringing a welcome diversion and reason to smile amongst all the uncertainty and anxiety. When radiotherapy started we were delighted to find that they were also bringing their sunshine to UCLH, which really helped to relax the youngsters prior to their appointment with the daunting linear accelerator. We grew to look forward to these encounters immensely, on one occasion Laura was in clinic whilst a talented magician held the attention of myself and our eldest daughter - she still has a pack of cards with one of them signed by her, which had mysteriously transported itself into a wallet inside his jacket pocket. They are adept at eliciting theatre seats for those well enough to go out between treatments, and at enlisting well-known faces to give the young patients some serious bragging rights. We have nothing but the utmost respect for what they do and why they do it.

Additional Prize Added - Alkin Model One

This continues to exceed our hopes and expectations, so it is a pleasure to announce another watch added to the list of runners-up prizes.

AIDM has generously provided this super legible Alkin Model One with green dial, orange seconds hand, bead-blasted black PVD case and completely unused black leather strap.

We like our microbrands in these parts and this is a real corker.

I had better start digging out some packing material!

This won't close until mid-evening tomorrow to give everyone a final chance to participate. I'll make an announcement regarding timings during the day.

A donation just in has made sure that we've not had a dry day on this one, which is a marvellous achievement. The total currently stands at £8,872 which is tantalisingly close to nine grand...

And once again, again, enormous thanks to all for the fantastic level of support.
