    Bargain Tamiya Buggy

I think this is a cracker of a deal for someone looking to build their first Tamiya model:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00I92DJ...tag=2308198057

I've relived my childhood over the last few years building some of the models I spent hours drooling over in the Tamiya catalogue or Beatties. I've picked a Neo Fighter up as the first for my son to build on his own at £66 it's a steal (I think RRP is £135).

You will need radiogear and a battery though.

I think unless you have someone to enjoy them with it's a case of rose tinted specs. I loved RC stuff although only my rich mate had Tamiya stuff.
Many years ago I bought a Nitro Traxxass 4wd job 2nd hand. It was awesome and a game changer after such a long time away from them but didn't take long before I spent hundreds totally rebuilding it, new bearings, bushes, seals, shell, wheels, uprated suspension then a brand new bigger motor, the lot.

It's never had a drop of juice in it and has sat in the loft ever since. If you can get something cheap like this it might be worth it for a bit but I'd expect the novelty will wear off quite quickly.

I agree, if I didn't have a boy who likes to drive them it'd be a different proposition. It's the building bit I like best, once I've driven them for an hour the novelty does wear off.

I used to race rc cars as a kid and loved it so much . Unless you are racing these with mates or in a proper race I think the novelty would wear off .

I built up a grasshopper a few months back, took me right back to being a teenager! :-)

That looks a good price for a Tamiya kit.

Mind you, I’ve got more RC cars than watches these days…

I’ve got a couple from when my daughter was around 2 and thought it was the perfect gift for her (read me) I found I was totally useless at controlling the car so they sat in a box for years and now sit on show jn my home office. Have another that’s not yet been built
