    This for me.

The early decade electro stuff was THE sound of the 80s and this is right up there, of course supported with the classic flamboyant video.

“Is she really going out with him” was better……

Although looking it might have been 1979

Suzanne Vega - Luka. (An incredibly powerful song about child abuse. I've seen her live twice and she's still got it)

I never saw the Waterboys but have seen Mike Scott a couple of times (uber talented) and in the mid 90's took him diving in Findhorn Bay, Morayshire. He was staying at the Findhorn Foundation and I lived in Findhorn at that time.

Loads of great 80s hits. I’ll add another for the Waterboys - Church Not Made With Hands.

    Wow!
In the mid eighties they were amazing live. Someone just mentioned Purple Rain, they used to do it on tour. They could play anything at the drop of a hat.

You're all wrong. The winner, without any shadow of a doubt is:

AC/DC - Back in Black. I don't think it's the best AC/DC track of the period but it was so poignant following Bon Scott's death.

This isn't my favourite tune of the decade by any means, but it's very good. And very much of that time.

    And here's another brilliant tune:

Ok, a bit of a cheat coming here as this was originally released in 1965 but this performance squeezes in as it was the Concert in Central Park in 1981.

Wouldn’t be complete without a bit of:

    Carter, Unstoppable Sex Machine

    https://youtu.be/8WJ1OCn4g-A

    or

    PWEI

    https://youtu.be/j7OUeFShS6o

Too difficult to pick just one song from those albums but…
It's just a matter of time...
