By several orders of magnitude, this was the hardest one I've done so far. It took me about 20 minutes to think of a viable third word. The fourth one was an act of desperation, I didn't even think it would be in the word list. I had to break my rule and attempt a word I knew couldn't be the solution for the fifth. I was staggered when I realised the solution.

But at least I got it in the end, even if it took about an hour.

I am new to this, so am still unsure whether it is better to go for a guess which you think might be the correct answer (ie to keep using the letters you know to be correct), or just try to get as many letters 'through the mill' as you can to limit available options.

Like you, I struggled to see the word but didn't have many viable options left to try, I was getting desperate though at the end. Previous recommendations to use a pen and paper have been very helpful for me to visualise what the word may be.

It's probably better as a strategy to use words that you know can't be a solution when you think they have a better chance of eliminating (or verifying) key letters. I don't do this, because my internal optimist tells me that I might just get the answer with the next viable word. I only broke my rule today because I simply wore out my patience trying to think of a viable guess.
