Perhaps my favourite character in my favourite show. So funny yet so threatening.

The actor Tony Sirico passed away. He was 79 yrs old.
Sirico played Paulie Walnuts in The Sopranos. Sirico had a real gang-related history before he took on acting. Let's say he played a role in the Sopranos he knew very well!

One of my favourite actors in the series, may have to watch the Pine Barrens episode later.
Loved his character in the Sopranos. I’ve been watching clips this morning.
The episode out in the woods and snow is just brilliant.
Season 3 episode 11. Pine Barrens
RIP Paulie “walnuts”

Genuinely sad to hear this even a little more than the great James Caan.
Paulie (Tony Sirico) popped up in loads of mob films basically as himself (Goodfellas, Gotti and tons of others ) although he’s most famously known for reprising the Paulie role which is now cult icon status . I was aware he was actually loosely affiliated with the Columbo family in real life . He’s like a HBO favourite though - he made the Paulie character seem so close and accessible that people forget the world he portrays .
Such a great guy and seemed very humble person off setthan what he portrayed on camera . RIP ?

“You’re not gonna believe this, the guy killed 16 Czechoslovakians… he was an interior decorator!”
Sad to hear this, RIP. He played a huge part in creating a truly memorable character.
At 55 he was sleeping on a fold-out bed in his mother’s lounge when he won his role in The Sopranos.
His criminal background was well documented, and for anyone who wondered why Paulie very often held his fingers or played with his pinky ring up high, in front of his chest, it was a mannerism he picked-up from observing prisoners in jail - they kept their hands high & to the front at all times, ready to attack or defend if necessary.
Just one small aspect of how he created a believable psychopath.
Also had many of my favourite lines in the show, including one I deploy with relish: “Don’t get c*nty“.
One of my favourite scenes is of him clearing the breakfast buffet of pastries at a hotel.
Very sad news. A really lovely guy and super actor with skills learnt from a very full life.
So many quotable lines from The Sopranos with many of those attributable to Paulie.
RIP Tony
