Agreed. However is it classed as a biscuit???
If you've never had one, image a chunky stroopwafel covered in chocolate. Perfect with tea or coffee, or on a walk. Delicious.

I can get through one of these in an evening.

Surely everyone has tried one (unlike a stroopwafel).
The classic McVitie's Digestives. Plain and simple like me. They’re the earliest biscuit I can remember. Love 'em still. I (usually) do not dunk.
- was the Ayton Sandwich (no longer made). Those of a certain age may remember them
- is... well I think the OP nailed it. When my sister and brother in law lived in Hong Kong we used to send them boxes of the things.
Tunnocks is a family firm with interesting history

The work of seconds.... ;)
I think they also have to be classed as biscuits, there's definitely no confusing sponge to relate it to a cake.
It was a close run thing, with McVite's milk chocolate digestives being a close second. To my taste buds, they're superior to Hobnobs.

Digestive biscuits. The Hovis ones are my favourite. Actually the only biscuits I ever eat.
I seem to recall that they are cheap and nasty tasting but each to their own i guess
I can't eat chocolate - so limits my choice somewhat.
That said, Cantuccini or Biscotti, would still be up there for me.
Ideal with a strong Italian coffee

McVitie's dark chocolate Hobnobs (described as the Royal Marine Commando of biscuits). Job done!
Tunnocks - naturally!
But - Tunnock's Caramel Log by preference:
Ginger nut. The toughest biscuit on the planet with a WR second to none!

Hard to beat a milk chocolate digestive...the Waitrose own brand are surprisingly amazing. Better than McVities imho.
Not sure what they were called but as a kid I loved the ones with concentric bobbles on them, about the size of a digestive.
Another vote for Digestives. Anyone still put them on a plate when visitors come?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
I made some biscuits on Monday. We found a box of 'luxury' chocolates in the Xmas cupboard that were left over from last year. We are not great confectionary consumers and prefer plain unadorned so these Lily O'Brien chocs were way too elaborate for us, came in a hamper I think.
So I melted them all (about half a pound) in a steamed pan and poured the result over a couple of large handfuls of Maple and Pecan cereal, mixed it well in and poured into a tin dish with greaseproof then into the fridge for a couple hours.
They are absolutely delish, so much better than any shop bought.
Anyone else make their own biscuits?
Chocolate bourbons ooh yes. Cheap n cheerful.
Custard Creams
Milk chocolate hob nobs; I can’t allow myself to buy them because I can eat a whole packet in one day

Jammie Dodgers.
Biscoff the one for me.
Garibaldi. Nostalgia harking back to boarding school, these were a cost effective treat with limited tuck money.
I think this thread needs a touch of class.
sometimes less is more
a thin arrowroot goes down well with decent black tea, slurp.
but the Polish ones called jezyki are pretty good- Tesco sell them
That reminded me of this classic interview that soon falls off the rails by a minty biscuit.

Deffo choc hob nob. They just melt in the mouth after a quick dunk in the tea. I reckon biscuits should come with "dunk seconds" recommendations before breakage.
Hob nobs about 2seconds. Where as a cookie you can't push it more than about .75 to a second or your asking for carnage.
Why has no-one mentioned Jaffa Cakes ?

( before my chocolate problem emerged )
... Because of the VAT ?

PS Whilst looking for a pic of an Ayton Sandwich this afternoon , I discovered they were also George Galloway's favourite.... Meow
Lemon-and-lime Jaffa Cakes are fabuloso

Is there a difference between a cookie and a biscuit?
With coffee. Peak Freens Shortcake biscuits or Mr. Christies Arrowroot biscuits
Don’t know what they’re called or even if still available - was a rectangular thinnish biscuit coated one side with coffee flavoured icing.
