    Genuine or aftermarket dial?

I've been sent this photo asking for my advice, but I don't know enough to be able to answer so I said I'd ask here.

Do you think this is a genuine Rolex dial or an aftermarket one?

This is the only photo I have so far & it doesn't have box or papers with it.

I've asked for more photos & also the serial number & will update if it helps

I would be shocked if that's genuine.
Apart from the general look, I highly doubt Rolex would cross into the minute track.

Usually in every single fake the Rolex coronet is rounded from the bottom. This coronet looks legit.

But it sure looks like a aftermarket dial to me. But not "Chinese aftermarket"... if you know what I mean. The watch itself looks legit.

Here's my "very seasoned" DateJust 1984. Not the same model of course but you can compare the coronet shape and dial print.

    The printing looks wrong.

May be just an original dial that has been repainted?

The bezel is like a reverse copy of JPE’s example. Has someone with more money than sense, asked a jeweller to create a one off dial for them?

Best case it’s a modified dial but either way that is horrific.

The watch head is at an angle & the numerals are unlikely to be touching the minute track.

There are plenty of examples of Rolex watches with what's called 'Eastern Arabic' numerals. Some came from the Rolex factory, but the majority are redials/customs.

Well you would certainly like to think that Rolex had never had anything to do with that dial!

FWIW, here is some information about Rolex Eastern Arabic numeral dials in general.
