Recommendations for IFA for pension advice

    Hi all

The very good pensions/early retirement thread has made me realize how little I know about this subject and given that I've just turned 55 and getting a load of correspondence from my pension funds I need to do something about it.
Can anyone recommend a good IFA who specialises in pensions? I've was referred an advisor tied to St Jame's Place but their ongoing fees are eye-watering and their reviews don't inspire confidence :-(
I'm based in london but I guess location is not a problem where is can be done remotely

I've a lot of pension pots both direct contribution and direct benefit from working in both private and public sector. some savings too. if that helps

    thanks in advance

Maybe worth a free chat with the following in the first instance. Government backed. Then IFA

    https://www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/pe...t/pension-wise

Thoroughly recommend 'MeaningfulMoney' on YouTube and his back catalogue on pensions and general financial advice. He is a 25 year experienced IFA. A lot of the stuff is common sense and can be self learned.

In a similar situation to yourself, I went via unbiased.co.uk to find an IFA and have been very happy with the one I was put in contact with.

The Pensionwise service is also well worth following up with to understand all the options.

Can’t recommend anyone but use unbiased.co.uk. And chat to 2 or 3 before making your mind up.

    Don’t use Saint James Place!!

Does your bank have any advisors? I use one at my bank, but I also check out recommended funds to see how they do over time

Not for pensions mind you. Just for investment advice
