This P Line isn’t electric but is very cool.
I’d love a second gen T Line when it comes. Hopefully without the brutal early adoption tax that’s currently being charged.

The collective noun for a group of Brompton owners would be losers I think. Not sure about the bikes.

Apparently a smaller battery which goes up to about 10 miles is coming soon. Can’t see the appeal personally.
First day of my new type of commuting and I love it. No sweat or sweaty back, but still a bit of a work out. And great to be in the fresh air.
Looks great. I used mine to go to St James and back yesterday which was just under 27 miles roundtrip. Great to be out in the air but awful when the battery died at 25 miles just before the final savage hill.
Bicycles are not allowed in St James but when I offered to fold I was told it was allowed so long as it didn't touch the carpet. Fancy.
For context my resting heart rate is usually 52/53 so not tour de france but not an easy moped journey either.
I presumed you have worked out to keep the charger in your bag next time, and charge the battery at work.
Carpet stuff is a bit snooty, but it is St James.
I have cycled all the London canals many times on my other bikes, and it is a fantastic way to travel. Cutting through the urban sprawl in what feels like countryside in parts.
One of my favourites is a cycle pub crawl from Hackney to Maida Vale along the Regents Canal. Some fantastic pubs along the way.
I brought the charger with me but couldn't find a plug in St James, only some USB A sockets on the tables.
The plan was to get the train into London then I decided to see if I could make it all the way in and get the train back, then I wanted to see if I could do the round trip...
Those pics are of the river lea which was quite nice but the locals on the boats around Tottenham were a bit rough. I'd probably avoid that section next time. Like a scene out of Children of Men.
Just taken delivery of my Trek Rail 5 E-Bike courtesy of our bike to work scheme.
I do like biking, for exercise I use my watt bike and Zwift but having a knee op last year I realised I’m no longer able to put as much strain on my left knee. A good friend of mine who used to come out with me on our old bikes a few years ago made the switch and said it’s great as you can ride longer and not straining as much on climbs.
So I sold my Whyte hard tail and plumped for this, looking to get out on the local trail this coming Tuesday for a debut ride and see what it’s like now the weathers turning.
Just had a quick ride up and down the street in the different modes and my word even in Eco mode it makes such a difference, I’m not to bad on a climb normally but looking forward to seeing what these are like next week in real world experiences.

Great looking bike. The electric Brompton I got recently has been fantastic and I don’t regret it one bit.
Really let’s you use the bike for types or rides you wouldn’t otherwise consider and I wouldn’t rule out another in a different style like mountain or hybrid
I don't really see any Bromptons in San Diego, but I can absolutely recommend the GoCycle, which is also a foldable. Plenty of power and torque, enclosed drive system, and front wheel hub drive.
We’ll just got back from my first outing on a Mountain Bike in more than 10 years and I am gobsmacked at how good these electric mountain bikes really are.
I’ve literally enjoyed it so much I ended up doing two laps of the route I took and spent 1hr 40 minutes this morning remembering why I used to love going out on a bike off-road before my knee started playing up.
These things just eat the climbs, one in particular I could barely get up without stopping once or twice when I used to ride the same place years ago. Turbo mode and just fly up those climbs now and no pain in the knees either, still panting like a good un at the top but these bikes just make you want to carry on.
It’s definitely right that you want to just ride more and more with these things…
What a great start to the day that has been, anyone who worries about mountain biking and struggling then get an electric bike and you will love it and it will definitely assist in health and weight loss.

They are great aren’t they. The technology is probably lost on 10 stone twenty-somethings, but in my mid-50s I have lost my drive to punish myself via exercise, and these bike help me do the things I love without too much pain or repetitive boredom.

I’ve just received an email from the management company of the building I’m in saying no e-bikes allowed because of fire risk.
Seriously time to leave the city and move to the countryside.

That’s the one, used Eco and turbo a few times and only used 1/4 of the battery in just under 2 hours, cracking bike.

Lovely looking bike Martylaa, which model is it. I bought an electric last year but with work commitments only just started getting the best out of it. Makes the ride more pleasurable especially when you hit some big hills. Surprisingly and ignorantly I thought they were just for the lazy, but boy can I get a good sweat and workout, you can input as much or little as you like and like others I'm not getting any younger
Yep, and that’s wrong.
My father needs a mobility scooter to get around, the council flat he lives in have also banned all ‘electric mobility aids’ both from his home and the shared hallway outside due to ‘fire and rescue advice’.
They’ve rendered him housebound in one fell swoop.
The risk needs to be assessed, not just blanket banned.
Seems a bit heavy handed.
If they’re BSI kitemarked should be ok and not able to ban. Dodgy Chinese imports need to be seized and the authorities need to act.
LFB are only providing advice - which is specific (I think) to lithium battery powered stuff and the associated risks inside properties including charging. What happens though is most organisations are pretty crap at risk management and it manifests itself as risk aversion. Not helped by TFL having had a ban on their network for a while now.

A corking bike those Rails, was on my shortlist before I picked up a Turbo Levo.
As a 50 something bloke who has been biking since just after I could walk, e-bikes certainly rekindled my interest in off road cycling, and find myself doing very long routes I wouldn’t otherwise consider.
I worry some about keeping my ebike in the garage...

Does sound good though. All I need is some mountains. Not too many round here, unfortunately, though big fat tyres and full suspension are very necessary on the local roads.
I have convinced my not-especially-cycling-keen-wife to do a bike ride tomorrow, where she gets the leccy Brompton and I ride the non-leccy one. No need for bike carrier on the car, they go straight in the boot.
Heading down the M3/A31 to Christchurch and will start from the beach huts at Mudeford/Hengistbury Head. Then cycle the 10-mile beach front path to Sandbanks, take the chain ferry and cycle onwards to Swanage for a nice pub lunch. Then the Purbeck Breezer (not possible without folding bikes) back to Bournemouth for a late bite to eat and a couple of beers before cycling to the car and the missus drives home.
This is the beauty of electric/folding. Plus, the folding part means we can get the on the open top bus for the return leg.
For those who wander what to do with leccy/fold up bikes, this is the joy of it.
Just putting in a update after 6 great month with the leccy Brompton.
Currently doing 20 miles per day, 3 day per week commuting on it. Have to say I am loving every minute of it.
Some drawbacks are that the rim brakes are a bit third world when you have some speed behind you, so you really have to keep the rims degreased. The factory front light is little underwhelming.
I am getting around 30 miles battery on a pretty flat commute in moderate leccy support.
Thoroughly recommend one for commuting to work if you are otherwise stuck in traffic.
I just keep on top of the preventative maintenance every couple of weeks, cleaning the rims, and cleaning and oiling the chain and hinges.
I think I maxed out at 25 miles on my electric P Line before with moderate battery and advanced BMI but that was in the colder months.
Haven’t used mine in a while but a research-heavy friend has just bought a cannondale moterra neo 3 which looks good and has a removable battery. Almost tempting.
Unusual to see discounts on Bromptons, but 20% or £600 off a couple of Electric Bromptons below.
Plenty of other non electric Bromptons at a 20-22% discount too saving nearly £300 if you look under the SALE tab.

I have a voucher ready to go but am waiting for the MY24 stock to get a basic C Line.
Collected my P Line from service today and asked about the new ones. The guy told me he can’t say when anything is due or what it is but he has seen some very interesting Bromptons in London recently being tested.
I know what you mean and also think 12 is a bit nuts (4 gears with low, medium and high settings) but I am interested in a C Line for a possible Kinetics 20 inch upgrade one day.
Still tempted to do the 5 speed upgrade to my P Line but haven’t done enough miles to justify messing around with it.
I recently bought this ADO Air 20 for commuting duties. I don't start the role until next week so no full experience of that new hell to review. One thing that did catch me out was starting to pedal on full assistance on a mini roundabout, won't do that again!!
I have however, found that as someone who has always driven everywhere, also being overweight etc. I have been using for the shorter journeys I would normally get in a car for. For example, my parents live 7 mins away by car and this thing gets me there in 10, feeling enough out of breath that I have done some exercise (not as much as many of you but certainly more than I have previously!) but not too tiring to dissuade me from using when I don't need to cart the kids around.
ADO customer service was a bit of a challenge but got there in the end, build quality seems good to me. I actually wanted the AIR20s with suspension forks but it was unavailable and I've seen reasonably easy to modify if required. We live close to meadows and woods but I think it would be unfair to use this whilst the rest of the family work only under their own power.
Different pricing point than the Brompton but good enough for me! Picture was taken during putting together...

Portable electric city bikes really are the future for cities and leisure travel. You are so limited by a full size bike with storage and transport.
I can’t see myself ever living without a potable folding electric bike. Completely change my commuting and leisure biking.
My leccy Brompton died today, 8 months and over 1,000 miles in (according to the app)
Given I have full cycling waterproofs, I have put the bike through some real filthy and punishing weather commuting to work over the last couple of weeks. Gave it a good clean and lubrication today and the electrical assistance now doesn't work.
I am not overly gentle on the clean, but ensure that I don't hosepipe the motor, except for a gentle sprinkle. I don't want to be too gentle with the clean, because if the motors are a bit temperamental as I'd rather find that out while the bike is well in warranty.
It is back to the AD bike shop tomorrow for diagnosis and repair. It comes with a 3-year warranty, and customer service from Brompton is meant to be top notch. One of the reasons I bought it in the first place.
Back to a road bike next week, which may help me shift a couple of pounds.
Curious to see what the issue was there. I think I’ve done 130 miles. Sunshine only.
My friend met the CEO recently via work where they went for a ride together. Apparently a very nice and genuine guy. Double wristed a Bremont and Garmin.
