    On this occasion, I will (in the spirit of festivities) be at the panto!.

    My father worked in panto in the 1950s. I went to many of his shows and met several celebs of the day.

    I remember once when my mother was indisposed he took me to the Palladium and billeted me backstage where the Tiller Girls adopted me for the day and bounced me from one to another on their laps. That could account for quite a lot.

    He was usually an Ugly Sister, or a Troubador.

    I often fancy going to see a panto but the possible outcome of going door-to-door around my neighbourhood asking to borrow a couple of young children for the evening has so far dissuaded me.
