It's another of those "future" watches!!
116 here. Superb watch, but bracelet adjustement system is a PITA (I know I'm in minority here, but I hate screwed bracelets adjustement system as I risk screwing the bracelet... instead of unscrewing, of course ;-)).
It's another of those "future" watches!!
Nr 141 arrived over here this afternoon. Very impressed with the watch, although the bracelet sizing experience is not a joy..
Glad I found the Dreadnought's tiny screwdriver (but you need two :P )
All wear in good health !
I managed to drop one of the tiny screws and was wondering if Eddie had spares when thankfully I found it.
Thank goodness!Originally Posted by Glamdring

Hi!
I've got number 120 here in Madrid (Spain), laying comfortably on my wrist 8) This is my first "real" watch (and the only one aside the two other G-Shocks I had bought before) and I am impressed with its fit, finish and overall quality. I had a bit of trouble sizing the bracelet, and, as dumb as it might sound, I haven't been able to change it to the NATO yet
Anyway, I think the watch bug has already bitten me, as I am already looking forward to my next purchase (maybe a Damasko DA37...)
Yesterday I received #125 on special request.
My Speedbird I & Speedbird III together, a quick and dirty pic.
Nice pair... interesting to see how the SB has developed from version 1 to version 3 :)
I have serial number 140.

Well I'm blowed! Like (i suspect!) most Englishmen who've never been, I always assumed that Stockholm was snowbound for at least 4 months of the year! You live and learn!
We have snow now and then, but it usually melts away quite fast. Say that the average temperature is +1 Celsius instead of -1 and that makes all the difference.
Those of you into motorsport might have seen the Swedish WRC-rally. If you look at old footage from the seventies it looks fantastic - 20 inches of nice white snow. Nowadays it's more like a discusting thin semi-melted brownish stuff they're driving through. It barely covers the road. Of course it could all be fixed if they moved the rally 200 km north, but that's another story.
Maybe we should get back on topic :)
No 142 left the UK on Friday and arrived in Uppsala, Sweden today! Glad to be aboard 8)

YODAHAWK = 82
Boys, I really don't regard the first 50 as LEs - anyone trying to is sort of mugging themselves. It's got a chronoscope movement yes, but it's not really an LE. I'm happy to have one of the first 50 but I wouldn't ever try and suggest it's some crazy special 'oooh it's really special, look at that' edition piece. Get over yourselves.

I think the price difference between these and a 'regular' SBIII tell a different story! And going by your logic, a stowa airman orginal le is not a really limited edition? Go try telling that to the boys over on watchuseek.
So what is a 'true' limited edition if this one is not?

Also, if there's no difference, I'll take #28 of your hands, providing it's LNIB and I'll send you a brand new SB3 from Eddie. By your logic you're getting a good deal.
When the SBIII was on the drawing board, and at least 12 months before it appeared, I had the opportunity to buy 50 pieces of ETA2824-2 chronometer grade at a fair price and so I did. These were earmarked for the first 50 pieces of the SBIII and was mentioned a few times on the forum.
Fast forward 12 months and the standard ETA2824-2 cost slightly more than I paid for the chronometer grade. It cost no more to make the chronometer grade SBIII than it did to make those with the 2824-2 standard movement, unless you count the cost of sitting on 50 movements for over a year. The SBIII with the standard 2824-2 costs more to make today than the chronometer grade version cost last year.
Given the increase in cost of movements, I could easily have charged an extra £50 for the first 50 but why should I? The movements didn't cost me what they would have cost one year later.
Whether you regard the first 50 as a limited edition or not is entirely your prerogative, I will state, however:
1. There will only ever be 50 pieces with the chronometer grade movement.
2. At the time they were sold they were significantly underpriced, taking into account the cost of the chronometer grade movement at the time and the cost of any other ETA-based automatic chronometer from any other manufacturer.
3. The watch isn't marked as a limited edition but those who care, know.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Alright, sorry mate that post came over way too harsh. Shouldn't come on here after a day on the sauce. My apologies.
However, I did the whole months waiting, making sure I was in at the right time, rushing through the form etc thing. I am happy to have one of the first run, and to have the chornometer grade movement (though not certified), so sadly I'll be declining your gracious offer. I can also tell you it's most definitely not like new as it's been my daily wearer and has the knocks to prove it.
I don't think of it as an LE as it only happened because Eddie had managed to get hold of 50 of the movements at a good price - I didn't pay anymore for it, it wasn't marketed as an LE and they all would have had the movement if Eddie could have got hold of them at reasonable price.
If I came to sell my SBIII I wouldn't be doing so at an inflated price because of the number on the back.
Also the reason I've put everyone on this list, not just the first 50.
A true limited edition would be significantly different in my eyes. Low numbers, different marking - the way Eddie does watches that he call limited edition - movement significantly different from that used in standard version - these I would call LEs.
I appreciate the sauce related apology! We've all been there :DOriginally Posted by CPF
The fact that Eddie took the the time to post on this thread, I think says it all. The first 50 may not be a LE by design but it certainly is by default. The inclusion of all SBIII's is most welcome - I think it's great that people care so much.
Lastly, it's a shame about you not taking my offer, although, I knew you wouldn't!
Ive just received number 90.
Was used almost as a makeweight in a deal but it is a fantastic creation. Very pleased.
Cheers
Chris
199 showed up this morning. Absolutely beautiful.
I am now the proud owner of #80 - need to get the bracelet adjusted and then will be wearing it on holiday in Paris next week :)
206 arrived today.
Very :) Loddonite
Am I allowed to mention the perfect ordering/receipt/despatch/delivery?
Let's just call the first 50 very special. (I hope Bubi's isn't one of them.)
#176 checking in out here in California. Couldn't be happier.

Just received SBIII no. 211, delighted with it. Wearing it on Nato, due to poor skills and no appropriate tools but it's also a nice first experience, I think I will order other Nato's from Eddie.
I had to part my PRS50, for things are not ea$y at the moment but I'm sure the Speedbird will take its place quite nicely.
I've got 209 - very pleased with it
