Does sound like it might be overtightened. Soft cloth and pair of pliers?
Friend wanted me to adjust her date on her DJ. Said she couldn’t get the crown to work. I explained to her how to operate the crown & too adjust the date but also I’d look at it when I see her next.
Had the watch today & for the life of me I couldn’t unscrew the crown, couldn’t get any purchase on it to screw.
She mentioned she had asked her partner to do it previously, but not recently.
To me it felt like it had been screwed to tight - is this even possible?
She’s taken it to M&W soon to look. It’s only a year old.
Any known issues?

Anti clockwise …
Ha yes I was trying to turn it that way!

Wasn’t going to try that with a two tone DJ that wasn’t mine. I’ll let the AD have a look

Needle nosed pliers and a lot of cut up rubber between the jaws, (Marigold) gloves come to mind, & carefully turn anticlockwise.

Is the consensus it’s over tightened?

Could it be cross threaded? Though you’d need to be giving it some serious welly to get it to seize completely. My only tip would be to take it to the AD before getting the angle grinder out.
Sounds overtightened.
I always use a damp cloth to unscrew if it's not budging, never failed.
Thanks she’s told me this has worked.
Pretty certain I loosened it up a few days ago mind you!

I`ll never understand why folks over-tighten screw-down crowns, maybe they think the watch will seal better if they do this? Serious lack of mechanical sympathy.
I`m not a fan of screw-down crowns, threads get damaged if the owner's careless, external threads always end up full of dirt which wears the threads, internal threaded crowns are better in this respect but more susceptible to clumsy careless owners who either over-tighten or don't engage the starter thread properly..........or both!
Replacing a damaged pendant tube can be difficult, even screw-fitted ones invariably require heat to soften the Loctite and that means fully stripping the case down. Press-fitted are even worse, they can corrode and be v. difficult to remove cleanly.
Being a bit Switzerland here - DJ crowns are fiddly at the best of times, its harder for women to grip them due to nails and its harder for men to grip them because theyre small vs larger hands.
Might not have been over tightened in the have you done this up with pliers sense, but tightened enough to have that little snick at the beginning of unscrewing that requires some grip if youve thumb tightened it when screwing down.
