I was suggesting asking him for (free) advice on what to do - not to do to preserve it as is, since you did say you had no plan on restoring it. He may ignore you but you don't have much to lose ;)

You did, I misread your post. I might just do that, thanks.

Do the letters "GL" on the side have any significance? The initials of the original owner perhaps?

I love old interesting stuff as well.

I sometimes pick up great old gear from boot sales. No earthly use to me but just lovely to own.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I’ve been told of a massive fair in Malvern on BH Monday. I think I’m going to have a gander.

I don't blame you, that looks a cracker.

No idea! I would imagine so though. Must have been somebody very important.

We have small old case that once belonged to my Mother with her (maiden) initials - H.R.H. - on it.

If you need some inspiration here's a project I did a while back.

You could look at using something like Sikablock modelling foam if you needed to mount watch cushions for watches with bracelets.

    Edit: and this one:

    Well, that was some read!

What you did there was amazing. Unfortunately, something of that calibre is beyond me!

Just shows what can be done when it comes to repurposing though .
