Alternative way of looking at it ...i was actually amazed that it was so cheap in the first place. as it's a carbon tub, batteries etc etc
Yep, and it’s been cheap to run in all that time no doubt.

I quite miss my i3, it was an early 2014 model, great fun to drive as well.

A guy I work with, a pilot, has an i3S in black, great looking thing with the extra bodywork and the lowered suspension, he loves his!

My wife has never said she's loved a car before until the i3, she adores it and keeps recommending it to people. I pushed for the s on looks alone tbh and i'm glad i did. On the odd occasion that i get to drive it i love it too.

Renewal through today from Insure Pink (Hastings), 2014 Mazda 3 Sport Nav 164:

    Last year £576

    This year £1,031

A quick search sees me able to get it for £650ish.

Did my current insurer expect me to roll over and renew without checking? It's a total pi55 take

    They seem to don’t they!

Seems like there’s been a shift up for many established insurers, moving up the price range, but seems to be creating room for new entrants to the market, or new brands owned by established insurers.

We’re back to the shopping around to get a reasonable renewal and sod any loyalty I think.

I was speaking to a friend in Knoxville TN who is in his 80s last night and he had just renewed his car insurance which was $1800 for the year, I forget what car he has but its nothing special.

Last year had multi car with LV. Only cost was £400 for the wife’s 4 year old v40 (8000 miles) and my old 2009 SLK 280 (4000miles).
This year they were looking for £580, nearly a 50% increase. So got 2 separate policies from Aviva and AA for £410. Never even bothered trying to phone LV to get them to negotiate.

Loyalty from or for a car insurance company? Not seen any sign of that for the best part of two decades.

I'd happily stay with the same company for life, but I've only ever accepted a renewal quote once. Every other time has been the usual yearly hike for no reason except greed.

Just signed off on a new policy for £40 cheaper than last year so it's not 100% price hikes everywhere.

With Hastings - car is a Volvo XC40, increased from £750 to £940, and OK with that as friends locally have had theirs doubled.
