We have a decent amount of Stihl equipment at home, and I've found their pressure washers to be very good. They seem to be getting more into home/garden products these days. 3 year warranty on pressure washers if I recall.
Going into my seventh year with my Kranzle K7. It’s absolutely bulletproof. I’d have another one in a heart beat, but doubt I’ll need a replacement any time soon!
Thread resurrection
We re-landscaped our garden last summer. White porcelain patio looks great in the sun but mucky after the winter. After taking advice here etc picked up a Nilfisk E 145.4 with accessories
Just given it a quick blast with the patio cleaner brush and then gentle spray. Very pleased with results. See pics
As part of the landscaping we had slot drain installed. The metal grids are cemented in. Full of a winters load of leaves and just not draining. So can the TZ collective advise on how to clear those drains
Before cleaning
After
Drains

THe patio looks really good after the clean up
As far as the grates go I'm surprised that they are cemented in I have the same one and although really hard to lift thay can be moved
The only other option that I can think of is a leaf blower on suction mode It might not clear all of the leaves but it should help with the drainage. I have a |Flymo one that has
this option and it's pretty powerful
Hope this helps
John
Thanks John - will message the contractor and see if the drains are meant to lift …… if not then maybe another gadget required !

He was out till 4am and has decided the couch is his domain today
Anyway very happy with the Nilfisk and decision last year on the porcelain tiles which are much easier to clean than our old patio. Furniture being delivered end of the month.

Good job
I jet-washed the decking a couple of weeks ago and at the time I couldn't tell if it was making any difference, what with it being wet and everything, but the next morning it came up good.
I must have got distracted though and missed about a 1/4 of one of the planks and now it taunts me every time I look out of the bathroom window. I haven't been arsed to get all the kit out and finish it off.
At the moment I have a Karcher jet washer and am looking at approximately 50m sq of polished Indian sandstone which could do with a post winter clean.
Karcher seem to do a variety of patio washers all of which look pretty similar and I’m assuming you can also buy a generic washer with Karcher fitment.
I’d prefer not to spend a fortune of a washer which will be used twice a year at most likewise, I’d rather not waste money on one which is useless.
Any recommendations please?
You don't need a pressure washer to clean crap off your patio, get yourself some of this and its game over for winter/autumn foliage and moss stains.

My Nilfisk is also still going strong!
Do Miele do pressure washers???
So after a bit more advice. Finding the Nilfisk mid patio cleaner a little hard work in terms of me having to stoop to use it and I am a short arse ! Am looking at whether you can add an extra extension lance or whether that somehow screws the pressure up
Also wondering if anyone has the Nilfisk Power Patio Cleaner and whether that is a good upgrade

I bought one of these things - IIRC it cost about £25 at the time - it was completely useless on my York stone patio.

But ceramic tiles should be easier to clean, so maybe one or other of the Nilfisk accessories may be worth trying
They do 3. You have the Compact. I have the Mid. And my enquiry is for those that have the top one called the Power

it is standard practice for professional pressure wash businesses to use hypochlorite first, wait for a while for it to work and then pressure wash
i buy it in 25 litre drums for about £20 / £25
it does go bad though after 2 or 3 years i found
So I found a very helpful company called Northwest Power Washers who stock Nilfisk. Lady who answered the phone was very knowledgable and she said the Power is a decent upgrade. There are compatibility issues with some lances and you need a G5 lance for 20 quid if you want to avoid backache

Shame to read the mid is not that good, not used mine yet but felt poor quality vs my old karcher one. Did feel the lance needed to be longer also, so thanks for the info on the extension lance.
I’m just hoping the increased pressure vs the old one (prob 2x even with my 130) makes up for it. Wish I’d gone for the bigger model that winds the hose like yours dose, but assumed from the photos it did vs just held the hose after use.

My Nilfisk stopped working - it seems that there's a pressure sensor that goes faulty which stops the motor kicking in. Quite common too, according to the internet. I replaced it with a (relatively) cheap Ryobi, which works just as well. The hose handling is inferier, and it's quite light and prone to falling over, but it does the job.
I've had no luck with those patio cleaner attachments - the Nilfisk was worse than the Ryobi, but neither was brilliant.
Re: sodium hypochlorate - isn't that delivery to business addresses only?
Used the Power patio for first time today. The extra lance means no back pain and I reckon took half the time than it was taking with the mid
The bad news was I hit some stones and it ripped the nozzles !!
I swapped them out for the red heavy duty ones that come with the kit. I will be on to the supplier tomorrow !

The problem with the 'domestic' rotary attachments is that the brush around the outside - causes the unit to suck down into the surface. You really need to angle it slightly to stop that.
The professional cleaners use 4 castors on the unit, with an air gap around the circumference. They also use a 4000psi (petrol usually) pump.
Other advice - give the domestic power washers a rest every 15mins or so.
I seem to have done just that. Not cheap, but as I am retiring I will spend a lot more time keeping the house and cars looking good rather than paying someone else to do it. I hope the investment is worth it...
K1152TST. Overkill, I suspect, but the satisfaction and improvement in my language/blood pressure having a tool that does the job will be welcome!
Supplier was very helpful and confirmed stones will chew up the nozzles. They have sent me replacements gratis and first class post.

Jumping onto this thread. I'm looking at buying one for cleaning/weeding my block paved areas, and possibly car.
We have recently discovered that boiling water kills the weeds, so do any of these 'domestic' machines also have a hot water/steam capability?
Not interested in spending on commercial/professional stuff as I can't justify it.
Also, regarding the sodium hypochlorate, will that soak into surrounding ground (through the gaps in the block paving) and potentially kill my nearby planted areas?
So, this thread appears for me and my Nilfisk C120 then springs a major leak <must be dark forces at work!>
Can't complain too much, it's had eleven years of regular use. The plastic safety valve has split. Am going to fit a new valve and see if I can get some more years out of it.
I do like the look of the Kranzle models though for next time. Best start saving now!
Just went through my first 20litres of that and have ordered another 20l for the rest
It's a game changer tbh so thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately can't use it on my driveway as it's on a slope and runs onto the street so doubt the dog walkers would appreciate it.
Limestone pavers and patio have come up a treat.
Need to get mine out again this week, bloody Calima has made a mess of the pool terrace, we had a brief but hard storm, lightning, the works on Thursday night, sand coloured tiles are now a sight. Only washed it about a fortnight ago. sigh.
A Sterwins does the job though the supplied lance could be more robust, durable.
First pic is power washing
2nd pic with hypochlorite

Is there an equivalent to sodium hydrochloride for decking by any chance?
