Your comment may have nailed the reason for the price. When I looked back at the price I paid for mine in US$ the initial asking price of $1,200.00 was fairly close if the Customs Tax is included. At today's exchange rates £550 would cost just slightly over US$900.

Looks like they guessed wrong on the direction of exchange rates.

How can they not even open the box to hold the watch???????????? That is just WRONG!
