I'll have to go to more car boot sales.
Never seen anything like that though.

at a car boot sale? I've never found anything despite attending hundreds over the years although a friend of mine picked up a scruffy looking ladies watch which turned out to be a Beuche-Girod in 18K studded with sapphires & diamonds. He paid ONE pound for it and when it cleaned up, got an insurance valuation of £3500.

Hi Eddie
I've had a few catches over the years :D
The best watch related buy was probably an Omega '53 "fat arrow" pilots watch for £12-50.
Cheers

I found an early 60's Stainless Steel Seamaster on a grains of rice bracelet for £35.
If only it had been a JLC!
I picked up a box of 5 Seiko divers at an auction in a village close to Durham about 18 months ago. It cost me £48 plus commission etc.
They looked a bit manky but with a bit of cleaning I found I had a 300m Professional diver (black bezel, the one prior to the current PROSPEX offering), a brace of 200m divers of the 007 type a 150m diver (very small - I still have it) and to beat all...... an ORIGINAL 1975 600m Professional Diver. I've had that one in to Seiko UK to be properly fettled, I got it cleaned, recertified and equipped with a new Crystal (the last in Japan according to Seiko).
I notice that HIGUCHI are selling its moden equivalent for about £1600.

Having returned back to England after 5 years in Bombay, I have experienced both complete rip-offs and brilliant bargains. The best bargain was a Porsche Design chrono for about 80 quid (think its called a PO10..the same they used to wear in The Professionals, and Tom Cruise wore one in Top Gun!), and I also got a quartz Ebel 1912 for the wife for 50 quid.
However...to counter that, the military Omega I bought for my Dad turned out to have a movement made up from 5 different watches. That taught me after spending 200 pounds on it!! :?
Gues I'll be scouring those car booties from now on
Oh yes....
The Dreadnought !!!
Fantastic build quality, first class presentation, outstanding design and less than half the price of a "Named" watch.
Well Done Mr. Platt.
Was going to pick up an Omega 53 Fat Arrow for £12.50 it was going to be you Foggy.
How many RAF Seiko have you found so far?

Do we have car boot sales in the US specially NYC area?
what you would call a garage sale or a yard sale. Only difference is, in the UK we sling all the junk in the car and drive off to a big field or car park. There can be thousands of sellers at some of the larger ones.

2 years ago I found some vintage 60~70's Japanese Chrono (Citizen & Seiko)
in Thailand flea market, the conditions were not very good,
and I picked those up just around £10~20 per pcs, I just
bought them for the 70's design..almost none of them can work
properly...they have been sleeping in my drawers for more than
a year and finally I met a guy who know how to fix and clean
these movement, after restored we put those in my friend's
vintage watch shop and sold 3 of them at £80~100! Now I keep
one only!
that was the only bargain I found from "garage sale" (kind of).
