And not a johnny come lately. I was born and lived a goal kick away from the ground, know Alan hudson well, he was a neighbour who lived in a pre-fab. Dear old mum still lives there. She used to watch them all through the fifties.
Harrogate Town.....but much prefer rugby league and so has to be Leeds Rhinos...

I'm a Notts fan and have been since i was kid. Usually there's not much to look forward to at the start of the season but this time its totally different, infact quite unbelievable really.
The club was taken over during the summer by a mega rich Middle East consortium who have installed Sven Goran Eriksson as director of football on a £10 million 5 year contract
Some good signings have been made that should do well in this division so i'm looking forward to next Saturday with a great deal of optimism 8)
I'm happy for them to be doing well because I'm not one of these, 'I like Forest, so therefore hate county' types.Originally Posted by magnet
Oh how I hate our new badge. Apparently the H is supposed to be a stylised version of Robin Hood! It has been somewhat surreal being a Notts fan the last couple of weeks. We've been signing players for money from higher divisions. That doesn't equate with being a Notts fan. I'm even thinking of ways to persuade my wife to let me go to the opening match of the season on Saturday.Originally Posted by magnet

I've no geographic reasons to be an Arsenal fan but most of my English mates are and thats how I learned to appreciate football fully. Lately I've become more and more of a rugby fan though.. much more enjoyable to watch.

West Ham United for me and my household - well the Mrs anyway.
We live a glory-hunting 220 miles from The Boleyn but it doesn't stop us turning up when we have the time.
I just see it as extra committment to my club. Northerner by birth - Southerner by Football!

Liverpool fan, living in London but from the NW originally. I don't have a season ticket but I usually make it up to Anfield around half a dozen times a year.
Also enjoy rugby - I don't really have a club side, although I go to see London Irish with friends from time to time, and make it to most home England internationals.

Union, that's all we get here where the expats gather in the Irish pubs to see Sixnations /Trinations etc... I've understood that League is quicker, but havent seen a game as of yet. I'm hopefully gonna make it to see a rugby match in the UK soon.
Which do you prefer and why? I still haven't learned all the rules (theres so many!!). I just love the fact that numbers are assigned according to position... (no stupid CR7 going on etc), no shouting at the referee, video replays when refs are in doubt etc... footballers could learn alot from rugby players...
I prefer Union - a far more complex game, although my preference is probably partially due to growing up with Union whereas League was and pretty much remains something I'm not massively familiar with.
Probably about drugs. :wink:Originally Posted by 744ER

This thread is for proper association football. :D

i like union
i played a little rugby for a local clubside years ago.league is a simpler form of rugby much like american fooball, and i never knew all the rules when i played i don,t think any of the players did.
i was a tight head prop hence the name no.3.
BTW is there a TZ-UK fantasy league? I've just selected my team for next season on there :)
