Looks really nice. Is this the kind of thing you could drive on a daily basis?
My request for avatar help started a bit of chat in watch talk about my 66 VW. Its a splitscreen camper converted by Sundial in the US. It lived in the desert for a long time so is largely rust free.
The only mod is a slight lowering job on South African Sprintstars which were originally supplied on beetles. It has had a mag feature and a couple of book appearances. Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Sweeeeet!
That's all needs to be said!

I have done, but its not very economical. Having said that, it makes driving a pleasure and it attracts lots of nice comments.Originally Posted by dodgyknee

Keep your T4 & T5's, that's what I'd really like!

I've often seen similar vans out on the roads in the summer but they seem to be stuck at 50  I'm not sure if I could live with that but I think it would be nice parking up somewhere nice at night 8)
Very nice! :) Have you burnt something on the inside of the door?
At some stage in the past the cooker damaged one of the fold out shelves. I haven't changed it because its original.Originally Posted by BDStevens
I have the original cooker that came with it although we use a more modern one when camping at the shows.

There is a guy near me who has some sort of japanese van that has been styled to look like a VW camper ! Looks bloody funny from the front as it does look like a 3/4 size Dub !! from the side it makes me Puke !
Owner loves it !
The colour combo is lovely 8)
Had a friend who had a beetle in very similar colours :D
I have seen one - oh dear! :roll:Originally Posted by Driftwood
That's a really nice van. Bet it's fun in the summer :).
That is superb...what a wonderful van to own.one day I will manage to own one and do a bit traveling, they have everything you need and some style.scooby Dooby doo.
A friend of mine had a camper very much like that one, was a Devon conversion or something along those lines. I remember it being the worst vehicle I've ever driven! The brakes were appalling and the handling..well it didn't.
Mind you it looked awesome and the girls seemed to love it! :D
Nice 8)
Off the road at the moment as steering box is leaking but will be sorted for the spring!
Thanks for the great comments guys.
Oh yes! Driving is like an upper body work out! :DOriginally Posted by ArcofZen
I do like it! Like I said when we were chatting about it before, just looking at it makes you think of sandy beaches and long road trips with a shapely blonde riding shotgun, her hair blowing in the wind :drunken:... and Jefferson Airplane blasting out of the speakers :D :D
Cheers

Cool.....ice-cold-cool 8) 8) 8) 8)
Absolutely iconic vehicle...who cares if they're slow & thirsty.
I like classic cars almost as much as watches :)

Nice van, always a pleasure to see these old girls on the roads.
I think that shortened one above is quite cool!

very cool - always loved them. I have previously owned 3 beetles and will always have a life long soft spot for all early VW's. See plenty at the bug jams
Great looking camper - love the side doors, make a nice change from the slide doors. Splits just look the Daddy. Mate has a burgundy red/off white Westfalia model, not split, but all original kit. Who needs speed when you drive one of these - good work!
Sundial basically copied Westfalia interiors which are in my opinion the best conversions you can get. I had a westie bay window once and it was fantastic - sold it when we had our first daughter....to pay for nappies and nappy rash cream. The best of the English (again IMO) is Devon interiors.Originally Posted by Yanni

Very nice, I recently converted my T5 but would love an early bay.

Always fancied a VW bus for a bit of fun, not sure if i could deal with the lack of speed though :D
Lovely motor and in very good condition,
My first car was a 1970 VW beetle, my birth year and yes it was my choice over all the XR2i's and 3's that everyone seemed to have around my late teens - early twenties.
I always wanted one of these but sadly never did get round to having one.
Ah but they can be made To go faster.Originally Posted by GraniteQuarry
I've owned a couple of Splits. A 64 and a 67. The 67 had a 1776 tuned engine in and when nicely.
A good few people are putting 6 cylinder 911 engines in them these days mated to a 915 box. Not the easiest of conversions but what fun!
My buses I used to have

wow - they are REALLY fantastic examples!!

i always fancied creating a 'Cal look' bug, but i havent got a garage big enough to do the work (or the spare time!)
Great buses - I also have a Radio Flyer (cart) tucked away in the garage! A classic Porsche is the only vehicle I would exchange my bus for, although I did see a very nice T5 day van recently!Originally Posted by Bootsy
