Thread: What do you drive?

    NSX

    Sorry Eagle.

    Lowndes

You have a fantastic NSX there and may I say you keep it in incredible condition. Have you polished around the engine ? Most cars have a less than perfect finish in the engine bay. Very impressed with the overall finish of you car. Can I also ask what products you use. Autoglym, Meguiars ?

    Thanks for sharing with us.

There was one on eBay which had been re-mapped. He claimed 350bhp and 900Nm torque. I reckon that would be a gearbox wrecker.

I changed my X5 for a 2007 Honda Civic a few weeks ago. The BMW was very nice to drive, but just too expensive to keep on the road.

The cost of tires and diesel was bad enough, but the 1,680 in motor tax per year was just too much for me to stomach.

For an X5? Some difference! It gets worse - Ireland switched from engine CC to CO2 emissions for motortax, so some people are now paying 2K a year in motor tax. Absolutely insane.

The pain in the arse is that my new car (a 2007 2.2D) is about 900 to tax per year. A 2008 model would be taxed by emissions and would only be 280 for the year - even though they're the same car.

1552 euros for an X5 with normal fuel, 2600 euros/yr for a diesel version... overhere in Holland.

My 7 y/o Saab 9-3 (250K kms) is taxed at 135 euros/month! That's why I sold the car for a VW Up. No tax ('cos it's clean) and the insurance is 18 euros/month.
The Up is quite a nice runabout. But last week, I'd installed a roof rack for the transport of a spar and sails for my son's dinghy - mind you, not the boat itself. When going uphill, the little engine had a difficult time. Luckily, my wife's new BMW has a lot more power!

My VW Up! on its first trip two weeks back. When buying the car, I ticked all the boxes of the accessories list. Really a full options car.

After 8 months in a BMW M135i I was really sad to see it go, I loved it and it was silly fast but now back in the X6 for the winter months

But I really want one of these

Absolutely loved it! I am BMW biased as I work for them but it means I have run many company cars including a few 335i and a few Z4 M coupe and roadster as well as M3's etc and the M135i is without a doubt one of the best cars I have had. It is brutally fast when you want it to be but also a quiet and comfortable cruiser when you need it to do that. I had the 5 door version in grey and I found it was quite understated and that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preference. I liked the fact that to most people it was just another 1 Series but "car people" knew what it was. I got more comments and questions about the M135i than I did any of my M3's.

Depending on what you are coming out of the interior might feel a little basic in places but essentially it has all the toys and gadgets you would ever need and when you put your foot down it just takes off. It feels faster than the M3 but that is mostly down to the torque of the turbo engine and because it is a smaller car it feels easier to place on a road.

I think you will love it

I have seen a few on the road, rather nice. They have a nice looking interior. What's it like day to day.

It's really nice has a very sporty feel to the drive, but it is quite firm but very little body roll. I have been really pleased with it. I got a good deal on it and that makes a big difference to it. Price wise at list it's pushing X5 money but with more kit on it, but the deal I got meant it was cheaper than an x3 with lots more kit and a lot more presence, but not as much space and that's the one downside

Interesting. I've seen a 5.0 version at a very good price locally and, much as a like my new winter wheels (below) I am a little tempted by all that V8 goodness. I'm sure that I did read they aren't too good in the snow for an SUV.

There are some great cars on this thread, really like the Lexus!

In fact I like most of the cars posted but I suspect this is because they are all very clean.

As a strict none washer of cars ( current is convertible so cannot take it to be "Polished" at Tesco ) I would find it helpful to see these cars with patina so that I can decide what to aim for next!

This make you feel better? Wheels are slightly cleaner than the rest as they've just been fitted for the winter to replace the 19s

Shifted the Audi on for something without monthly payments, its been fun and practical but its £400 a month better in bricks and mortar!

Found myself a nice comfy Passat (mixed bag of reviews but hasn't every car!), found a nice condition low miler with cambelt and water pump done, plenty of recalls carried out so im really happy with this one, its remarkably similar to the Audi inside.

Went hybrid this year - love it! Averaging 62mpg - matching my previous diesel Yaris but no carcinogenic particulates and cheaper fuel - silent in city centre traffic, no clutch, great stereo, and cool gadgets like head-up-display and LED headlamps. Fast enough for our crowded roads and motorways and zero annual excise duty. Wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but meets my needs perfectly, leaves some spare cash for the other pleasures in life.

The Octavia Vrs has now been traded in for a 330d (dealers pics). Loving the Torque!

If anyone's on the lookout for a Octavia VRS Estate let me know and I'll point you in the direction of the dealer who's now selling mine. It's a cracking example.

Thank you. It's a temperamental thing, with a mind of its own, but it's so much more than mere transport; every journey is an adventure. The colour is Wedgewood Blue. So many Lotus cars have been painted yellow or red (this one was both at various stages), but I think this makes it look less like a toy.

Had a few motors in my time. This is number 35

This year will be tight for money, but might look at the X150 XKR next year, but I don't think they anywhere near as pretty as the X100 shape, but they have an aluminium bonded chassis and another 100 bhp
