    Commodore 64 - fond memories

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19055707

I never actually owned one (still had a Vic-20!) but lots of my friends did.
As featured in the video, I used to love the game Buggy Boy.

My mum was clearing out the loft recently and came across my old commodore 64, boxed with games and music maker thing. Can't remember what I did with it now, think its now in our loft ready to be discovered when the apes take over the planet (its coming people, I've seen the future news)Great times spent on that. I remeber finishing Impossible Mission for the first time (withoout the cheats) and thinking how great it was!

Spectrum man myself though a few friends did have the commodore 64. Manic miner - those were the days.

Boulder Dash on the C64 is probably my favourite game ever. Also loved Bombjack, Double Dragon, Outrun and Leaderboard Golf.

i won a zx spectrum in a competition run by the evening standard. all i ever used it for was to play their crappy version of defender, you had to load the software from a cassette tape , seems like ancient history these days.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Wow - I remember that beige box so well! I used to love the MicroProse sims on my C64: I must have spent ages waiting for missions in Gunship, Red Storm Rising, and F-19 Stealth Fighter to load from tape: I used to read while the game was loading, play through a mission then go back to the book while the next one loaded. Aaah - nostalgia.

A couple of years ago, I spent weeks downloading the C64 emulator and the ROMs of most of the games I could remember owning. This site was one of the resources I used:

    http://www.c64.com/

    I also just purchased this:

    http://www.zzap64.co.uk/cgi-bin/disp...?inlay=zzapdvd

Every issue of Zzap!64 scanned in full to DVD.

A bit geeky, but the C64 was such a big part of growing up from about 10-16 years old.

I only managed to get a Amiga 500+ and the 1200, wasted far too much time trying to master Mircoprose Golf.

Ha, that was awesome. and that buzzing noise the robots made as they moved backwards and forwards. Somersault over them them, push joystick forward in front of the console, don't stay too long, somersault robot again, somersault again as he comes back push forward on joystick in front of console. Repeat until the thing was downloaded. Fantastic!

I used to have an Amstrad 6128... those were the days...
It is at that point in my life that I started wasting too much time in front of computers... I never stopped since, I'm doing it right now!

Loved my 1200, did my dissertion on it, animation of coastl erosion. Found the disks the other week and it looked shockingly bad, got me post grad funding at the time!

I had a C64, seems a lifetime ago. Favourite game I think it was called Aztech Challenge.
I had the 5 1\4" disc drive too, and a big musical keyboard, even though I hadn't a note in my head.

Sorry, what I meant was, that I missed the C64 and got to the Commodore party a bit later, due to various Amstrad, spectrum and the Sega master system.

C64 was the king especially if you had a 1541 disk drive for your 5.25" floppies!

Mule, Race and Destruction Set, Rocketball, Alter Ego, Archon, Bounder ........... The list goes on

Had a commodore 16, now that was retro!

Oh yes loved it at time, spent an age typing one of the program scripts in back of user manual , only for a ball to bounce along my screen. How I contained my joy , god only knows ;)
Impossible Mission though was definitely one of the good games. I did try to copy many a game on my dual tape tech :)

I used to clock chuckie egg...One of my faves.

My mate & i used to be called Anticom & used to hack C64 games. My mate went on to write bubble bobble & still gets royalties from it.

C64 Track & field..Only the trusty Atari Joystick was able to withstand such abuse

Brings back many memories of days lost in front of the TV playing Way of the Exploding Fist - and I remember the majority of the other games mentioned.

Also lost many, many hours playing Elite
