I agree that the orange font will look a bit weak but I also prefer it that way anyway.
Metres for me please. Not too keen on other versions
200 metres looks the best imho
Well, I've definitely gone with one of the options we've already seen.

instead of 200 meters......
how about 7874 inches? just to keep it interesting :)
Or 20,000cm, be reminiscent of 20,000 leagues under the sea :-D
Am I only the lonely in wishing for a coloured (sunburst!) dial and coloured bezel?
Sorry for the crappy photoshop effort
ETA please big man?
Respect the past, live the present, protect the future
With images now available I am liking this even more and I'm definitely in - now for the wait..........
So just to confirm please Eddie:
1) Avacado coloured text
2) Depth rating in rods & chains
3) 37 cubic zirconia on the bezel
4) Vostock bracelet
Have I missed anything?
Lol. :-) :-)
I didnt care for this design at first, But the more I look at it the more I like.
I wonder if it will suit a 6 3/4 " left hand wrist?
The meatiest watch ive been able to pull off (Only just) is a Seiko monster.
Lug to lug looks to be about the same.
Im a no more than 42mm guy so I wonder?
Also "Smiths" just dont seem right, Id much prefer "Sewills" , Sounds beter and is more marine in my perseption.
Could you savy guys put up a Sewills example?
When Great Britain was GREAT we use Feet (and inches) not Metres, just saying
I may be getting ahead of myself. But I see this as a lifelong keeper so I am making long range plans. Will any Seiko bezel insert fit? If so, I will be purchasing a few bezel inserts soon. I don't like heavily scratched inserts.
Don't say that. Exactly 5 months after Eddie's ETA post is my birthday :-) :-)
Any interest in one of these?
At last...... I could never figure out why nobody was making a 6105 homage, as I have said on here before, the 6105 cushion case has to be one of the most original and beautiful case designs ever made, it's like a Miura that tells the time...
Thank god somebody has seen the light. Put me down for one.....
I've been reading this thread and watching the evolutionary process with interest!
This latest cut is almost perfect and I would certainly like to have one.
Just one thing (and I think it has been said before) - the pink dot on the second hand and the strong assertive red of the depth indication are mutually exclusive.
Let's have strong red for both please.
Paul
Really starting to like this after following the thread, just a thought regards the WR rating, from my little research the Seiko its based on was from the mid 60's and during that period the UK was pretty much still using imperial measurements on that basis I prefer the depth rating in ft as it gives it a more retro/vintage vibe.
Metres, please. The watch may be assembled in Blighty but 200m (in the right font, thank you) is in keeping with the original 6105, still modern and far less clumsy and dishonest than 656 feet 2 1⁄64inches. 20 bar or 100 fathoms would be incorrect but at least the OCD wouldn't rip me shreds.
Metres, metres, metres.
now: QUARTZ!
The seconds hand is just too Seiko for my liking. And I'd like Fathoms or Feet instead of Metres.
Lose the red type, keep the 6105 second hand and make sure the bezel is 6309 style. The rest is bob-on.
Eddie, will the "Smiths" be available WITHOUT bracelet as an option?
Great looking watch, just great!
Rob
I've been debating about asking this stupid question for days. I'll ask. This watch looks pretty good, but if it's a version of the 6105, which is still around even though a tad dear in good condition, why?
Because the originals are frankened as much as the SM 300 and as you say, an authentic one is pricey and may not be water resistant.

Good answer, fair points. I may buy but I'm more inclined towards the bronze in the pipeline. I presume I have a long time to save for that one? ;) Both perhaps.
I'm just going by the drawing which may or may not be accurate in this regard but if you look at the original hands the ends weren't "chopped off" straight edge like that. They have a very slight taper which to my eye adds that final bit of finesse rather than left looking at the aftermath of a beheading.. Otherwise with the orange script the watch needs nothing else and will be a cracking watch I'm sure.. That's assuming of course that Eddie is having the hands custom made and are not "off the shelf"..

That was mentioned earlier in this thread and the originals were indeed rounded corners and bevelled on the edges. The most unusual hand there is the seconds hand and unbelievably, it's available ex-catalogue as seen in the drawings whereas the hour and minute hands aren't.

^^^ I get the message! If I have to get the hands made in the original style, the tooling costs are approximately 2,000 euros and the delay is 8 - 12 weeks. It's not only in the detail, it's also in the cost.

It was mentioned earlier that the crown will be screw down. Will it be the same type as used in the Dreadnought/PRS3?
