I am being forced to use a replacement mobile phone at the moment, that has none of my contacts stored in it.

Given that I grew up in an era of dial telephones and no moblie phones at all, why do I now stare in horror at the phone every time it rings and I can't see who's on the other end?

Because CLI was one of those inventions that was genuinely an improvement in telecommunications! Like wide screen monitors, it was how it was always meant to be.

I have just had to move my car from one side of my work building (aircraft hangar) to the other; a trip of about 300 yards. Because i would complete this at no more than 20 miles per hour i decided not to wear my seatbelt. And do you know what? The 'no seatbelt' alarm on my car (07 VW Passat) was beeping at exactly the same BPM and at the same time as the song on my CD player (ZZ Top - 'It's Too Easy Mañana').......................just sayin'!

Nick Clegg's jowls have really expanded, hanging low and out there. Has stress made him put on weight so fast?

    The random disclosure thread.

Just conducted my first interviews from the other side.
    I.e. interviewer, rather than interviewee.

Both were good candidates, with strengths in different areas. I'm happy to have either, but I do feel for the one that doesn't get it. I feel slightly duplicitous recommending one over the other.

Fortunately, the final decision goes to a colleague of mine, but he can be a bit of a cock.

Nope - that's not stress - that the effect of having a manifesto & not sticking to it.
(by getting into bed with a party with which it shares very little common ground)

Is it just me, or does anyone else practise lip reading by watching Babestation?

  27. #1377
    3 things:

    1. I can't believe I actually watch X-Factor USA with interest. Slightly embarrassed about that.

    2. Chloe Kardashain is a terrible host. Bad attitude, confrontational, irritating. She should pay more attention to Mario Lopez and pick up a few pointers (like, I dunno, be polite?)

    3. Demi Lovado, or whatever her name is, is remarkably dense. It almost hurts when she speaks.

    Wow... that felt... good.

    a) XP takes an age to install on a PII laptop.
    b) It runs surprisingly well in 192MB on said PII laptop.
    c) The only thing that gives it problems on a PII are Javascript-heavy web pages, no matter what browser is being used. But this is not XP's fault. Interesting though.

    The random disclosure thread.

In a world where we normally bleat about poor service, today I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly, helpful staff at Starbucks, Charnock Richard services on the M6 northbound.

Just the little things that make a difference - like warming the honey (for my porridge) in warm water for me :)

I've no idea - just thought this was a random site to block (unless we've had some vehement anti regime threads?), when other sites aren't eg, the other watch site.
I was only there a day, so wasn't bothered about trying to get around any blocks - just thought it a little off the wall.

    I think I am becoming a girl.

I thought I could handle my chillies, but last night eating a whole red one in a Thai curry has me jump out of my seat shouting "Jes** Chri**!".

It was the hottest thing I ever ate. And it hurt this morning also.

I'm looking out of my office window at the sun setting in the stubble fields behind my house, but I feel really guilty about the fact that some parts of the country are being flooded and generally having a really awful time.
I can't do anything about it, but still feel bad watching the lovely golden afternoon sun here.
